How do your hobbies or job change the way you play D&D?

So how do your hobbies or job change the way you play D&D?

SCA: avoid saturday games; most events are either Saturday, or Friday evening to Sunday early afternoon.

Rapier Fencing and SCA Heavy: changed the way I described combats.

Joining the US Army - longest period in my life since 1980 where I didn't have a game.

High School: got me away from AD&D to better games. Like Traveller, Twilight 2000, and Fasa's Star Trek the RPG.

Shooting: Yet another reason no saturday games.

I work in IT and do a fair bit of remote support and web conferencing.

As a result, I have a strong aversion to the idea of playing through web conferencing because it feels like I'm still at work.
