D&D has been off the table with my group from the start three years ago. We prefer playing other systems. So far, we've played Traveller, The Expanse, Coriolis, Vaesen, Dragonbane, Paranoia, Call of Cthuluh, and next we will play Cypher System using the Predation setting. There are no plans to include D&D.

I started a D&D 5.5 solo campaign this fall when the PHB came out and will restart it when the Monster Manual comes out next week.

Fascinating survey that seems to seriously buck the trend that folks on this site mainly play 5e.

Struggling to get my head round that as the topic of conversations seems to suggest otherwise.
I mean, the forums have 245000 members in total, while only 123 people responded to this poll. So the sample probably isn't very representative (on top of it being in TTRPG General which skews extra-D&D, as two other people pointed out before me).

I still see a good amount of interest in and desire to play 5e. Just not necessarily WotC's current offering.

I agree with this, and I think the poll is a bit oddly designed in that regard: I would've preferred if "I will continue to play 2014 5E" and "I will continue to play 2024 5E" were different options, since there is considerable difference between the two (not just mechanics-wise, but also, y'know, identity-wise).

We can look more closely at 2014 vs 2024 later. That wasn’t the intention of this poll.

Got to play it with Schwalb dming at a con (demon lord too!) and that's one of my favorite memories of the last few years. I love pretty much all the changes, but I also love demon lord on its own merits so I'd love to hear what you preferred in it. As for what's missing... orcs?

I don't remember exactly what changes I wasn't fond of, but the missing thing is SotDL had pretty solid path support for sword-and-board fighters, which SotWW seems to be lacking in--there's no equivalent to some of those paths, and nothing that substitutes for them in the extent ones I see.

This topic may be more prone to attracting the non-5e part of the board than some.

What's crazy is there are hundreds of tabletop rps now. D&D is just one and yet it's all people talk about on these forums. "D&D this" and "WotC that". It's not even the best ttrpg because "best" has always been subjective and wishy-washy.

They keep saying "Well D&D is the 800 pound gorilla of the ttrpg community". But you do realize D&D is popular because Hasbro spends about $100,000,000 in marketing to keep D&D (and its other products & services) popular.

So the 800 pounds is actually cash weight. Try other games, people.

Of course the answer many of them would give you if it got down to it is "We don't care. We're enjoying what we're doing, we see no reason to change just because you want us to."
