<<Most groups are stable and meet once a week.>>

That does seem to be the common claim here, but I wonder if it's true, as it hasn't been my experience since I was in college, far in the last millennium.

Why I think it matters is that game design decisions are different if the game designers assume there are 52 games a year, or 3 -- I'm sure it influences how often people want rules changes, and how jaded they get with the "regular" rules and choices.

I like this poll, and its range of answers is pretty thorough.

That being said, I typically game 3 times a month. I voted weekly, because that's the goal, but in reality, we usually miss one week a month.

Voted more than once a week. Myself, I have a weekly game, and another campaign where I am a player, which we only play about once a month.

I play a 4e campaign at home once a month, and run a 3.5e campaign at home one a month. And, run / play in a 4e campaign almot every day at work (during lunch). So, I put down "more than once a week" :)

I play almost entirely online. Sometimes I do one-shots for curious friends, and whenever I find myself in my hometown, my friends make a point of calling me up and asking me to DM a game. But all my playing is done online, mostly through Maptools.

These questions are always hard for me to answer. In an ideal world? I'd like to play maybe twice a week. When I first got into D&D, I really got into it, and joined like six games at once. Sunday I'd finish one game in the afternoon, grab dinner in my college's dining hall, and then log on to play another! I had to keep a Word doc filled with my commitments... "Okay, Tuesdays I'm playing Kuylin the Feylock, and that starts at 8 EST, but Thursday I'm Gorim the Dwarven Cleric, and that's at 6 EST, and that's with the group that likes to use Skype..." It was almost overwhelming, but sure enough, groups started to disintegrate, until I was down to just two, and then down to just one, and then down to none.

But, due to the nature of groups online like that, most of the games I joined wouldn't last more than a few sessions. Any that lasted longer than a month I considered a success. So sometimes I'm at two or three a week, and sometimes there's a solid month of nothing, where I'm looking for a new game join.

Someday I'm sure I'll see Level 5. Someday...

Looks like my twice a month rate is the most common (currently 40% of votes)! Funny, back in high school we played every school day, and I remember summer holidays in Edinburgh running endless games up in my room. Got a lot of deity-level PCs back in those days, I don't see that anymore!

Twice a week normally, though this week as the wife has worked till very late ive been out loads

Monday: dominion card game
Tues: Pathfinder Society
Wed: online C&C 3
Thursday: 3:16 rpg
Friday: Hellfrost rpg
Saturday: LOTR rpg as part of a monthly all day meet, though i only stayed for one session

Im quite gamed out!!

I play in a 4E game that meets once a month, as well as an M&M game that also meets once a month. Not nearly enough gaming in for me, but the folks I game with have busy schedules so coordinating things is a chore.

I will now take this time to pimp my sig :)
