<<Most groups are stable and meet once a week.>>

That does seem to be the common claim here, but I wonder if it's true, as it hasn't been my experience since I was in college, far in the last millennium.

Hmm... in college, my group of friends and I mostly played two campaigns on alternate weekends. While classes were in session. And usually not the weekend before finals. Which meant maybe 24 or so sessions a year, split between two games. So we got in about as much gaming as you would with a twice-a-month schedule year-round.

The group that I've been playing with since moving to San Diego nominally meets every week, though holidays and other occasions where more than one person has to cancel (or the DM or the host has to cancel) generally mean there's not a game that week. I haven't kept close tabs on this, but I'd guess that means there are 6-10 weeks a year we don't play. So I've actually played more regularly in the 'real world' than I did as a college kid, and certainly have played any given campaign more frequently.

I run my 4E campaign weekly Friday nights, and I run my 3.5/3.PF homebrew Gaia's Dream on biweekly Saturdays, all day.

The session time averages out between both games. The 4E game is 4-5 hours every week; the Gaia/3.5 game is 8-10 hours every 2 weeks. About 20 hours of each game each month, about 40 hours of running D&D total in a month.

Right now I don't have a regular "play" game, D&D or otherwise. I get to play a bit of Pathfinder Society and a bit of Heroes of Rokugan (L5R 3e).

We play once a week mainly

We do some online stuff which is ad hoc - lets say 3 times a year

We have 4 weekenders each year in which we revisit our original 20 year old campaign (now 4e)

Currently, not playing at all, so I answered based on what it's like typically when I am playing.

I chose once/week and online only. I have never played in any format other than once/week, possibly because I play with college students and recent grads usually.

Ever since leaving college, I've been doing nothing but online play, so I also chose that option. I do not play DDO, though.

Right now I'm gaming 2-3 times a week. I run a D&D 4e game at home which meets once or twice a week, depending on our schedules. We also have a weekly private game at the FLGS of either Savage Worlds: Hellfrost (I'm a player) or Rogue Trader (which I run), that switch off every other week. It looks like I'm also going to be running the D&D Encounters events at the FLGS on Wednesday nights, so it might go up to four times per week for gaming. Good stuff!

We meet and play an RPG abut once a week: so I answered 1/week.

That RPG is not always D&D, however, so we don't actually play D&D 1/week.

Not sure what I should have answered.

Oh well, -- N

I couldn't bring myself to tick the "I don't play" box, so I chose "Once a year or less frequently". ;)

I haven't played in about five years, since I've tended to move around a lot and never really grokked online play of any sort. So I've just done without. :( I may be settling in the next year or so, though, so maybe things will pick up again....
