D&D General How old were you when you started playing D&D?

Simple question. I expect some people to complain about the granularity (or lack thereof) of the choices, but. . .

How old were you when you first started playing D&D? This question is not about whether you consider that "real D&D" or not. It is also not asking when you got "serious" about it or when you started playing again when you were older. I am only interested in how old you were when you first gave it a try.

For the record, I was 11 going on 12.

I was 12 when I started playing in 1978. I'm 55 now.

I was about 7 (might have been 6) when my brothers introduced my to the Red Box. I'll be 41 next month.

I voted 13-15, because I was in 8th grade the first time I actually played the game that is called Dungeons and Dragons. When I was a bit younger than that though (probably 8-12?) I had a friend who’s older brother played D&D with his friends, and I desperately wanted to try it, but they wouldn’t let me play with them. So, I did my best to imitate the language I picked up from them in games of pretend with my own friends. So, one could argue that at age 9 or so I was playing a very rudimentary D&D LARP.

I don't remember exactly how old I was, but I think I was probably under 10. My brother got the Mentzer Red box, and we learned the game together.

I was 8 years old and my friend and I were really into Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks. We heard that D&D was like that only better so we saved up together and got the red box. It was 1980 - I'm 48 now.
