how would you rule this weapon/item?

Ok. Im taking the basic idea from a weapon i just bought. Its a staff with a hidden blade. Its also top heavy (due to the solid metal cobra head design on top). What im trying to create in-game is a multi-purpose weapon. Take the staff idea, yet add a handle to the blade inside the staff as well, so that it screws off. This gives you a blade, a long hollow end, and a smaller end w/ a heavy figure at the end of it. Now take off the end of the long hollow piece, which now becomes a blow dart gun. The smaller piece is effectively a club. This gives you 3 weapons for the price/space of one. Or rather, 4, as you can also use it as a quarterstaff. And how much damage would the blade do? 1d4? 1d6? Its not as long as most short swords ive seen, but a little longer than the daggers i have. And how much would you say this should cost?

if you consider the weapon when weilded to be a tiny weapon, it should be a d4, if its small a d6, medium a d8 etc etc. So If a small creature could use it and get weapon finesse, it should do a d4, but if a small creature could't finesse it, let it deal a d6.

So, can Sam Wise Gambee weild it in his off hand while twf with his hoe? If the answer is 'Yes' its a d4 damage, or else its a d6.

Well, i figured it should be a d4. And i figured on the magicking 4 times.....
But what would the PRICE be?

Btw, the one i have, which has the blade attached to the top, id rule an exotic weapon, if only because the balance when using the blade is pretty......well, i wont use the words i was gonna, but its screwed up.

The cost of the weapon itself won't be that much. Minus magic, standard weapons cost from 1gp (half-spear) to 250gp (repeating crossbow). I'd say that your weapon is a bit complex, but not so much so as the repeating crossbow, so probably around 100gp. I also like 100gp because if you split it up, that's 25gp per weapon. Not bad.

The one question, though, is whether the weapon should be required to be masterwork (like the katana). Yes, and that adds 300gp to the price. No, and you're good with the 100gp.

LOL. Just be glad i didnt ask how to make the head into a wand. Inflict Serious Wounds wand on the end of the staff lol.
