I haven't even seen their 2003 catalog. Aren't these titles on it?...

Savage Species
Races of Faerun

I definately look forward to the first one.

I don't want campaign specific books. I want more of the stuff that Monte Cook puts out - books with ideas and tools and just a few crunchy bits. I want modules. I want books that help DMs or players add more to the game. I want books that teach how to balance classes, spells, monsters, prestige classes, etc. - tools. I want books with generic ideas, like some of what Penumbra has been producing. I want monsters with ecologies, like Dragon Mag. prints and like Monsternomicon mastered. I want books that assist with explaining time periods (just how does a feudal world operate?, how did things operate in the bronze age?). I want a book providing tools on what a low-magic campaign would look like, and what a high-magic (non-FR) world would look like. I want books of motives and traits. I want books of tables, like at the end of the 1st ed DMG where there was a list of potion qualities. I want books of rules with alternate spell systems and alternate classes (like M. Cook's ranger).

I will agree that I'm being a bit harsh with WotC because truth be told the Arms and Weapons Guide and the Fiend Folio have uses and somewhat mass appeal. But I'm really disappointed with the selection they're offering and their decision to reprint the core books. I really don't like that they're focusing so tightly on campaign settings.

Well, you can always hope for something in September through December! :)

As for myself, there's something nearly every month that I'll be picking up (including the 3 core books), but I'm not really buying the campaign-specific stuff.

I don't know what you mean when you say it's all campaign specific. Ignoring Star Wars, there are 11 products coming out from Jan - Aug and only 3 of them are campaign specific (I'm not counting Ghostwalk as I'm planning on buying that for the new rules rather than the setting included). That puts them at a healthy 27% ... seems about right.

I always have hope. This is really only the first time with 3rd Ed that they've let me down and I know they'll get my money again.

Coruscant and the Core Worlds doesn't count.
Savage Species has been covered by other publishers, but it's not campaign specific, so you're right.
Arms and Equipment Guide - see Savage Species
Races of Faerun is campaign specific.
Fiend Folio might pan out to be good, even though there's a plethora of material on the subject.
Ultimate Alien Anthology doesn't count.
Unapproachable East is campaign specific.
Urban Arcana is campaign specific (and a different game so it doesn't actually count I guess).
Ghostwalk appears campaign specific in the sense that Necropolis is (the book by Gygax). It's written by a trusted duo, so I'll examine it.
SW Hero's Guide doesn't count.
Revised Books - my originals are still in good shape.
Dragonlance Campign Setting is campaign specific.
Star Wars Galactic Campaign Setting doesn't count.

Well, I can't deny that you're right, but WotC has only two books on that big list that will get me to even grab the book off the shelf. I'm mostly just disappointed because I typically turn to them when I want something good. Firing their creative staff, making books of mediocre quality, and then reprinting books after only a few years really burns me up. I will agree that they have some gems, but on the whole I think that other companies are beating them to the punch and doing a better job of it. I really want to buy my books from WotC - I really do - but they've got nothing on the slate that appeals to me or the game I run. It's disappointing to actually have to come to terms with it too. *sigh*

And what did you buy from Wizards this year?

The 2003 products may not interests you, but it may interests others. For me, I like the continuing support for Star Wars. If they neglected that license product line, then they should not be in the business to publish it, and they'll end up with an angry group of fans.

Trust me, Wizards knew what they're getting into when they Open their system for other publishers, and has to compete with them. If Wizards doesn't have what you want, you can always look to third-party publishers ... like Monte Cook.
