I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

I haven't looked at any development in months. Same with draw steel. I looked at my dc20 PDF yesterday, and yuck.
Yep. Yep. And yep. I haven't been able to look at my playtest copies for more than a few minutes either.
I'm burned out on the Fantasy TTRPG du jour I've enacted on myself.
I wish 5e was better designed.
I wish PF2 was less designed.
I wish other systems had more products, better instructional content, or were more approachable.

I don't feel it would be in Critical Roles interest to stop playing 5e campaigns, as it's the most well known RPG and what people most associate them with. I think they would loose a lot of viewership if they did. I would imagine they will continue with 5e campaigns and have short Daggerheart games run in between the breaks of their 5e campaigns or run it with other people for say 6 episodes like they did with Exandria Unlimited.
yeah for all the hoopla it wouldn't make sense for them to stop their show using D&D, after all, its what made them a global phenom and I think their lifestyles have gotten used to million dollar salaries. Yeah, Id be shocked if they stopped using D&D5e and switched to dagger dark.

Maybe like many they are waiting for the final revised rulebook (MM) to release before switching with campaign 4

Have you looked at Level Up, EnPublishing's own take on the 5E engine? It could be the better designed 5E you're looking for!!
Yes. I have it. I try to use it whenever I need to revisit 5e, at least from the GM's side.
The frustrating point is the rare times it's not compatible. Like when I need to look up a spell from 5e that doesn't exist in Level Up. So then I have to scramble to find my old PHB. Because my players, you know, won't look up their own spell descriptions.

Has anyone played v1.5? What changes did they make?

Also, I hope they sell the screen separately. It's the only extra I want from the collector's edition.

I am fascinated by the fact that they are getting rid of the action tracker (this has been verified by the designers). It seemed fundamental to their combat design.

I have not been following the development recently. Can you elaborate?

I haven’t been following things too closely either. I googled and found this just now. They have since gone ahead and removed it.

I just watched the new five minute Daggerheart video from Darrington, and I realized to my own surprise that i am, in fact, still excited to get my hands on the complete game. I am not sure why, except that i think it has potential to be a fun, dramatic, surprising game.

I say "surprised" because there are a few games I was hot on before, and that just faded -- not least MCDM's Draw Steel.

Anyway -- is anyone else excited for Daggerheart? What do you plan on doing with it?

After watching (and enjoying) the Critmas special VOD, I went searching for other Daggerheart materials, and came across DodoBorne (an actual play podcast by fans using the beta rules, but they have great comedic chemistry) and am also still excited to get the final release.

I don't think that any of the games coming out will dethrone D&D. But they are fun, exciting options, and I plan to try to get Daggerheart to the table at a local game store, because folks need to experience other games and I think there will be enough widespread appeal to fill seats.
