I finally got a new job!

I've been on a high all week and it just keeps getting better! I've worked as a restaurant manager for all of my post college career and hated a lot of the time I've done it. I finally stopped making excuses and went to law school several years ago and graduated last May. I kept my old job while I went to law school and studied for the bar and found out I passed it last November. I kept the old job while I sent out feelers for a law job, but in Michigan's economy right now it was looking pretty grim.

Cut to last week: I had interviewed for an assistant Attorney General position here in Michigan well over a month ago. I hadn't heard anything until Tuesday when the Attorney General himself called (he was one of the three interviewers) and offered a job! Whoo Hoo! I had just about convinced myself that it wasn't going to happen, even though it was my dream job, and started to look for a job all over again. I have never been so happy to put my two weeks notice in as I was on Tuesday.

Great! Even if you are an evil (tm) lawyer, just kidding.

Congratulations!

Ha, ha, thanks! I really tried to focus on public sector jobs just to avoid the whole "evil" lawyer thing. I have a real problem with the whole billable hours thing and how the system is set up to make it hard for average folks to get good legal help. I figured if I was able to get a prosecutor job or the AG job, I would at least be representing regular folks against some real bad guys. I'm hoping I will be able to do some pro bono work.

Happy to hear about such a great change in your life...

stay on the side of good (taking on the bad guys), and not on the side of $$$. Way to many of the other kind of lawyers.

Welcome to the club. Congratulations!
