I just DM'd for the first time in nine years

First Post
I ran my first game of Castles & Crusades earlier tonight. Actually, it’s been nine years since I’ve DM’d a D&D style RPG session.

We started with character creation. One of the three potential players was a no-show :( , so I let them use the gestalt style multi-class rules from the back of Castle Zagyg to create a Ranger/Cleric & a Barbarian/Rogue.

Through the course of this session these characters encountered at various points giant rats, kobolds, goblins(one of which could shift form into a bat), orcs, pixies with bad hangovers, a family of stone giants, a fungus-addled but friendly treant and one very frightened cow. Somehow they managed to avoid my gnolls and flumphs. Something for next week, I guess. :]

Overall I had fun. The encounters were simple and ran swiftly, though in the heat of play I injected a bit more silliness than I original intended. My pacing slogged at points due to rustiness and forgetting some of the C&C rules I tried to memorize over the past two weeks. Practice will make perfect.

I’m back in the saddle again! Yay!
