The Colonel follows the ambitious Donnell as they head towards the South Door.

His long-term priority, as everyone in the group knows, is eventually to make it to the lower level and to rescue any remaining prisoners.

Doc sees that Donnell isn't gonna be joinin' him in his drinkin'. Prolly for the best, wouldn't want him to tarnish them garments with some upchuck. As Hoss joins the rest down by the South Door, Doc rises, takes another swig, and begins moseyin' to join 'em. Them souls ain't gonna gather themselves, I reckon.

OOC:
Doc moves to the south, and take a watchful vantage point a small distance from the door, waiting for them to open and ready to shoot.

I think we are all down there and in position. Unless someone needs to do something else, we gotta open that door.

@Tonguez - seems like you're itching to burst through! Let's do this thing.

Kahru burst into an empty hallway, its walls lined with trophies. They'd been here before - a guard room was to the south along the western exterior wall. There they'd find the stairs down to the cellars. Along the eastern side of the hallway were two sets of double-doors, both closed. They knew that the first led to the Steading's Grand Hall. Farther to the south, the doors would lead to the front courtyard, where sounds of battle could still be heard, though surprisingly faint, as the Steading's large timbers blocked much of the sound.

Which way to go now?
Kahru Storm-Bear faced the tyranny of options with the vague awareness that they had no real plan of what to do when confronted by emptiness - The clamour from the front courtyard guaranteed that there would be enemies to slay in a decisive surprise attack, but he also knew that down the stairs there were more prisoners to set free and the lair of the Fire Giants. The Grand Hall might be an option if they wished instead to search room by room and clear out any lingering reinforcements.

The Barbarian growled and look to the Colonel and Donnell behind him for input

"which way to go now?"

The Colonel looks through the doors, and finds himself relieved that there is nothing. He hears Kahru's question and answers.

"Down. The real threat is down."

FitzTheRuke

Legend
Through the empty guardroom with its smelly, infested straw mattresses, and down the steep, too-tall cellar stairs, Kahru led the way. Again, they'd been here before, but previously they'd been led by the Stone Giant emissary's assistant, when they'd been allowed to fetch the dwarves, but had rescued no others.

Smoky, sputtering torches illuminated a spacious square room supported by four thick pillars. Benches and tables were pushed against the walls, with a massive pile of crates and barrels in the center of the space. Two bugbear guards leaned against the crates, not far from two brass gongs. Their duty was likely to sound the alarm, but both looked up lazily for a moment, as if expecting the group to be once again accompanied by someone with authority.

From somewhere in the darkness of the cellblock hallways was the sound of uncontrolled sobbing.
