With the Chief's call of "Kill the Spell-thrower", it seemed as if nearly every giant in the room hurled a rock at Quinn. In a quick flash of precognition, Quinn saw his only hope. A single space that he could step to in time that would save his life. He stepped forward, but the mass of rocks that came through the door still took his feet from under him, and partly buried him under and behind them. This doubly saved his life, as to an observer, he seemed to have been killed, and the giants turned their further attacks on the others, while Quinn quietly worked to extricate himself from the newly-formed rock pile.
Valda plunged her sword into the prone armored hill giant, finishing him. She strode forth, heading for one of the less imposing giants, who looked like he would rather be anywhere else but facing the bloodied warrior woman. He rose a club, and they clashed, with Valda taking a blow and giving one. The young hill giant urged the bear on, who took a lazy swipe at Valda, who hardly felt it, such was her rush of vigor.
Many of the other giants now hurled their stones at Bible, but Cordit stood in the way. The little halfling sailor (turned giant ape) caught the stone giant's discuss, and she leaped over the firepit, landing amidst two giants and she struck the stone giant on the top of his head with his own rock while roaring,
"Leeff me kap'ton alloon!"
The chief had had quite enough of Jack and his quarrels, so he hefted an enormous two-bladed axe and rushed toward the dormitory doors with a snarl.
