(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

Quinn moves next to Jack and begins to cast another spell. As he finishes the earth beneath Nosnra and the old female giant erupts in a churn of rocks and dirt. It pummels the two giants and settles around them blocking their movement. At the same time Quinn begins to glow the starry form of the archer glowing on his arms. He gestures towards the giant chief and a bolt of starlight streaks towards him striking him in the chest.

OOC:
Move: Move to AV52

Action: Cast Erupting Earth. Should hit Nosnra and the old woman. Each needs to make a DC18 Dex save or take Erupting Earth Damage: 3d12 30 bludgeoning damage, save for half. Area under 20 ft square is now difficult terrain.

Bonus: Take on my Archer Starry Form. As part of this action I can attack someone with my luminous arrow. Luminous Arrow at Nosnra.: 1d20+10 18 2d8+5 7

"$%&!" Bible exclaims as rocks pummel Valda. Seeing the armored giant approaching quickly, she moves her enlarged form toward the gap between Valda and the fallen chieftess and leaps toward her enemy.

Landing in front of her armored foe, she strikes twice with Waythe.

OOC: Bible moves to AQ53/AR54 and jumps to AO55/AP56, automatically succeeding on a DC 10 Strength (Athletics) check to clear any low obstacles.

Waythe: 1D20+11 = [14]+11 = 25

Slashing damage: 4D6+1D4+7 = [1, 5, 6, 4]+[4]+7 = 27

_: 1D20+11 = [11]+11 = 22

Slashing damage: 4D6+1D4+7 = [2, 5, 5, 2]+[2]+7 = 23

The armored giant must make two DC 15 Strength saving throws or fall prone.

Legend
Jack and Quinn moved side-by-side to the door. While Jack shot the old giantess with his crossbow, Quinn caused the ground under her and her chieftain to erupt with large rocks that broke the table and bashed about their legs. The chief was loading his crossbow, and he stumbled dropping his quarrel while cursing. Angry, he threw the ballista-sized crossbow aside, and he grabbed the largest rock he could find out of the trembling pile.

He shouted as Quinn began to shine with the Archer's stars, ::Kill the spell-thrower!::

Quinn's arrow struck him just as he released his big rock, which came crashing through the doorway. Jack stepped to the side, but Quinn was nearly bowled over.

OOC: Quinn takes 30! from the Chief's rock, but he did a lot of damage. So did Jack. The old giantess is on her last legs. @Shadowedeyes Valda still has her actions to go... then I'll do Bible, the rest of the Giants & Cordit.

Valda, bruised and battered, struck out at the ogress engaging her, managing to draw blood as she called upon the runic magic that embodied the very foes they faced, hoping that the toughness and durability of a hill giant would manage to keep her on her feet.

OOC:
Should have used Hill Rune before the fight... oh well.

Going to attack the ogress.
+1 Longsword Attack Rolls: 1D20+10 = [17]+10 = 27
1D20+10 = [10]+10 = 20

+1 Longsword First Damage Roll: 2D8+8+1D4 = [8, 7]+8+[2] = 25

+1 Longsword Second Damage Roll: 1D8+8+1D4 = [3]+8+[3] = 14

Using bonus action to activate Hill Giant rune, gaining resistance to bludgeoning, slashing and piercing damage for the next minute/10 rounds.

Legend
Bible leaped forward, clearing the body of the fallen chieftess, and intercepting the armored giant who was lumbering toward Valda. Waythe sang out, slashing the giant again and again, cutting through his armor and flesh.

The armored hill giant bellowed, but he wouldn't fall down. He had an enormous sword, built for Fire Giants, but he wielded it like it was a club. Bible ducked this way and that, avoiding his clumsy but forceful blows.

Valda stepped over the rocks that had nearly crushed her and she lay into the ogress, who stumbled back from the blows, bloody and red-faced. The ogress swung her club at Valda, but she parried it handily.

Then most of the other giants threw big stones again, but this time they sailed over Valda's head, crashing through the doorway, as the giants followed their chief's order, attacking Quinn. Again, Jack ducked to the side as Quinn was struck by rocks, nearly crushing him to death.

But Jack wasn't safe either. The big gray stone giant held a rock that was shaped like a discus, and carved with runes. The giant hummed a low rumbling sound as he flung the stone, and it arched past Bible and Valda in a semi-circle. It struck Jack with great force an threw him to the side, and it passed over him, heading for Quinn as well.

OOC: Quinn, after earlier taking 30 from the Chief, took 13 & 24 from the giants' thrown stones. (others missed). He's pretty rough, and he'll fall, I think, if he fails a dc17 DEX Save (this one is from the Stone Giant's discus, which also hit Jack for 23. Let me know if anyone pulls off anything that can block any of that, and I'll adjust.

OOC: Almost forgot to do Cordit...

Cordit rolled to her feet, tired of being pummelled by the crazed old giantess. She grabbed the giantess's club and wrested it out of the woman's hands before bashing her head with it. Then she leaped over the rocks and broken table and landed beside Bible, roaring.

The young hill giant lad ran away, but he urged the grizzled old bear forward, telling it to ::Eattum up!::

But the bear only wandered a little closer to Bible, and sniffed at the air, reluctant to get into a fight with a giant ape.

Wincing from the blow to his leg, Jack limped into the main chamber to get a better shot on the ogress engaged with Valda and fired his crossbow. He then stepped back into the dormitory and out of the doorway to gain some cover from the giant's attacks.

OOC: Jack moves to AU53 to attack the ogress. He then steps back into the dormitory and around the wall (AV54) to try and gain cover from the ranged attacks.
Sneak attack with light crossbow (sharpshooter): 1D20+5 = [16]+5 = 21
1D8+16+5D6 = [6]+16+[2, 4, 5, 2, 6] = 41
