[IC] Come, Consult the Oracle

Lucias

First Post
Far from the villages and towns which dot the landscape, deep within the hollows of the forest is a glade like none other. Flowers and trimmed hedges, well maintained, dot the glade as a small stream runs through it and into a small pool near a mossy, rock outcropping. The smell of freshly overturned earth hangs in the air and the grass is soft beneath the feet. Roots from nearby trees cross and bend to form arches and gateways which vines and flowers have long since grown over. In the center of the center of this glade is the stump of what was once a massive tree, spanning thirty feet from one side to the other. At the very center of the stump is small, circular pit three feet across and a foot deep. Ashes and soot cake the sides and floor of this small pit. A fine woven mat lies on either side of the pit, the only objects which seem man-made here.

The most notable feature however are the seven stone pillars which surround the stump. Obviously ancient, vines and moss have managed to cover the stones making the runic markings on them unreadable. The pillars stand at least fifteen feet tall and are an arms length around. What these pillars are doing in the middle of nowhere seems a mystery, but they dominate the landscape of the glade.

In this glade stands a man with stiking, unkempt silver hair hanging to his shoulders, staring at the sky. Thin, but muscular, his most striking feature are that his eyes are completely white, covered by a think milky film. A red scar run vertically through each orbit, stretching for inches above and below the eye. Dressed in only loose-fitting black pants, he first sniffs the air and cocks his head before walking, without hesitation, to the center of the stump where he sits on one of the mats. He reaches into a neaby bowl and crumbles what look like leaves into the pit. A pungent smell fills the air as he reaches one had directly over the pit and it sets ablaze causing thick bluish-green smoke to rise in a column from the pit-cum-brazier.

Deep in concentration, the man begins to hum slowly and then opens his mouth to speak, "I am Uziel, the Sightless, Oracle of the Seven Pillars. The future, the past, and all in between is laid bare before me. If a question is burning in your soul, then I am the one to ask. However, if come seeking answers and you will find only ruin. Come seeking wisdom and your thirst will be quenched."

OOC: If anyone has any IC questions they would like to consult The Oracle about, place them in this thread (with appropriate flavor text) and see what answers the Oracle can give you. These could be about fights, relationships, death, anything. Just thought i would be fun to do. Remember, the Oracle knows all!

*hears of this seer and goes to seek him out* I have heard you are something of an oracle... Can you answer some of my questions... some are quite far back in the mists of time...

"Orlandu....truth is like smoke. If sought after too strongly it will be blown away, so only one question may be asked per visit. Now...for your question"

Uzeil reaches for the bowl and crumbles more leaves into the pit. Flames leap up and then die down again while the smoke turns greyish-yellow. Uziel begins to hum lowly and sways a bit. It is some time before he speaks.

"The flower spreads her pollen so that some part of her might survive and that she may give something to the world. Each seed grows quietly, unaware of its kin. One cannot find the seeds until they bloom into flowers. If you seek the seeds it will be a hard road, but the flowers can be gathered. This is your goal."

At that Uziel comes out of his trance and gives the Ogre a smile. I hope that was helpful...

OOC: Lucias, I sent you an e-mail you may want to read before reading this post.

Uziel hears the timid step of a girl approaching followed by her voice which is soft and sweet and somehow familiar to him.

“Greetings sir, I do seek your wisdom on this day. Oh, you are blind I see. That must be how you can see other things so clearly.”

As she moves closer, Uziel also notes that she smells familiar to him. In fact, he would nearly swear that he has met her before.

“Kind sir, I come before you to find out who I am. For you see, I have no memory of life before these last few days in this land. I am skilled in fighting but remember no instruction. I am alive, but I remember no mother or father, nor brothers or sisters. I know only that my name is Kith and that I have been fighting to rise in the Path of Honor for it pulls at my soul most strongly.

“Please sir. Help me if you can. Please tell me who I am so that this darkness which shrouds my memories may be dispelled!”

And then, Uziel makes the connection. The smell is nearly the same, but for the sweat of battle being replaced by the smell of flowers that must be in this girl’s hair. And the voice must be the same, even though it sounds so very different when the words spoken are not hateful curses. Suddenly Uziel knows that this girl and the woman Shard that he fought are either sisters or…something else. And he finds that he has just stumbled into a strange mystery that no other living soul in the land has yet uncovered...

Uziel immediately senses that something is odd. By the creak of her ligaments, her smell, and her voice, Uziel is certain this is Shard, his defeated opponent. However, there is something in her aura which puzzles him. This is not Shard. But then...who?

"Tell me you name, woman. Though we have met before we are yet strangers to one another."

(OOC: I'm going to assume Kith tells him her name, correct me if otherwise, Phoenix)

Uzeil motions over to one of the mats by the pit, "Sit, lady and we will begin..."

Uziel sits on the other mat, a nearby bowl and crumbles leaves into the pit. Flames leap up and die back down and a steady column of sweet-smelling, greenish-yellow smoke rises. Uzeil begins to hum deeply and it is some time before he speaks again.

"The coin has two sides, but the mirror only reflects one. A wide, deep chasm seperates what would otherwise be woven together. The bridge is held by a post at either end...one a jagged crystal shard the other a lone lotus blossom. If either were to let go and approach the other, the bridge would collapse. However, there is a light deep in the canyon. If the light can be grasped it will illuminate the mind."

Uziel snaps out of his trance. "I hope whatever was said was helpful..."

"Thank you for your wisdom, sir. I will have to search for the Light to find illumination I see." Taking one last look around the magnificent glad, Kith leaves with her heart somewhat lightened for now at least she believes that the answers she seeks are possible to find...someday.
