D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

Harb returned to the others with his report. He didn't want anyone to alert the creature(s), at least until he could decide if it was a threat worth avoiding or not.

Miss Imogen stops, puts down her pack, and knocks an arrow. She knows the approximate direction of the threat (this one at least) and is ready to address it. She steps forward, about ten paces to where the ground is a bit more level and her view is slightly less obscured. As if that might help.

She remembers a game she had played as a girl, standing in the forest with the other girls all around her hiding. The rules had been simple: you had to keep your eye on the person who was "it" -- physically see them - while hiding. When the person counting opened her eyes, she had to seek them out. It sounds simple, but the reality was completely different. She opened her eyes, and could at first see none of her classmates: the eleven other girls were completely invisible to her, even as they were in at least some form of plain sight. Finally, a hint of orange behind a fern...

"Aloisa!" Imogen had said, relieved to have seen someone after staring for so long. But it wasn't Aloisa at all, but a large marigold. She did find them all, eventually, but she was under no illusions about the ease at peering through thick foliage and isolating a threat, or a classmate.

If anyone advances, she will follow (helping with perception).

Rodrigo looked at the others. He moved to the front and drew his blades, waiting for Dellrak and Chrysagon to get ready, peering intently into the bush, trying to catch a glimpse - or perhaps a sound - of the creature ahead.

Dellrak put down the rear of the canoe and jumped up to retrieve his bow and quiver. "Comin' Priest?" he asks Chrysagon as he tests the string.

Location: The Chultan Jungle Encounter: Zombie Dinosaur

Harb warned the party and then moved back, finding cover under some large fronds. Rodrigo worked his way up the other side of the trail, looking at the spot where the underbrush swayed as something moved through. Miss Imogen followed while the others stashed the canoe to the side of the trail.

Suddenly a large creature burst into view. It was an enormous, squat, armoured beast, but what made it worse was that one of its eyes dangled freely at the side and its colour was all wrong. A bone protruded from one of its front knees and most of its other front foot had no skin at all. It should have been dead, but here it was lumbering toward them.

OOC: I didn't want to be that far ahead, I just wanted to form a front line with Chrysagon. I'm over extended, I would be about "14" up... ah well, such is life. I do hope Fradak is around! :O

Rodrigo's eyes widened at the sight - and even more when he realized Chrysagon was struggling with a meddlesome strap. He started backpedalling

"Brother Chrysagon, I may have need of your flail"

He stopped when he heard the twang of Dellrack's bow - he didn't want to leave the dwarf exposed. It was time to stall.
