D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

Rodrigo nodded at Miss Imogen, swords still drawn. "I'll go up last, you can cover me with your bow as I go up.

OOC: Did Qawasha sense something? If not he will go up too.

Qawasha sensed some nearby ghouls, gnawing on the corpses of fallen animals or the dragged-off casualties of the fallen skyship. They ware spread-out, distracted, and disorganized, and for the moment posed little threat.

As they climbed up the trees, avoiding the rope-ladder and direct contact with the survivors, the tabaxi hunters noticed a man in the middle-section of the ship who was hidden from the others and covering them with a stick - pointed at them as if it were some sort of weapon. They were about to warn the others, when he put it away. He appeared to be relieved that he had not used it - as if it were only useful as a last resort, and he only intended to use it if the strangers were a threat.

Myrral reached the captain and another crewman in the stern-section, and determined them to be in pretty bad shape - exausted, near-starving, and fly-bitten. Harb came up next, followed by Kasqa and Hup'lo. Dellrak dangled from the rope-ladder while Qawasha, Rodrigo, Imogen, and Weed were still on the ground.

Harb stood back and studied the captain and crewman, thinking back to their own misadventure with the flies of the jungle. Chances were they needed medical attention. The affects of the death curse made his usual inhibitions to intervening moot. He would help where he could until the curse was ended.

"Have you been suffering fevers and sickness recently? I may be able to help, and we have a deterrent to the flies that cause the sickness."

"Yes, we have." replied Captain Bravewing to Harb, "My navigator, Ra-nas is afflicted with the shakes. A few of the others are in the midsection with much of the same."

“Halruaa, eh,” Dellrak mused. The name didn’t ring a bell to him. He followed Kasqa up into the ship, and helped up anyone else that wished to join them. “What’re ye daein’ way oot ‘ere in the middle o’ nowhere?”

The dwarven ranger pulled out what remained of his enchanted berries. “These’ll cure injuries, but likely willnae ‘elp ‘gainst disease.”

The captain took one of Dellrak's berries and asked that they be passed out to the others of her crew (six total). "My thanks, good sir. We have run out of our food supplies (much was lost in the crash, or carried off by scavengers) and we have eaten only a few roots for the past few days."

After eating the berry, she told her tale, "Ten or twelve days ago, we were surveying the peninsula from the air, and we were assaulted by winged lizard-folk. They tore our sky-bag and carried off the repair crew. We did our best to land, but there was no open space and we hit that enormous tree and broke apart."

"Over twice our current number survived the crash, but we made camp on the ground and were beset by ghouls our first night, and we returned to the ship after losing a few crewmen. A day later, I sent a small group to scout the area and they never returned. Three days ago, we lost another man to a very tall flightless bird-like beast with enormous teeth. This jungle is terrible. You are the first civilized folk that we have seen."

OOC: Her story is strange. Kasqa first spotted the ship more than 12 days ago (I'm not sure exactly how long ago that was) from the cliffs of Mbala (post #1310) but he's not good with common and may have missed much of her story. Of course, it has already been established that he shouldn't have been able to see it from there (it was 130 miles away) so maybe it's not all that strange that it might not have even happened yet at the time. Qawasha will praise Ubtao when he finds out.

Harb went about the ship, carrying Delrack's berries to the crewmen and doing his best to tend to their needs despite the lack of proper sanitation. He trusted that they'd rigged some sort of system for allowing people to pass from one section to the other without too much danger.

The crew were all accomplished sailors, even if they were of the sky-variety, and the means that they employed to get from one piece of the ship to another were basic enough for Harb to do, even if they would be very difficult indeed for a regular person inexperienced with the art of balancing. It was a combination of narrow planks and ropes.
