D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

The big gargoyle with the little monkey in its net, struck the net-bag onto the side of a crumbling building and the little monkey lay still. Dellrak and Harb both climbed back onto the road and sent quarrels and arrows after it, to no avail - it was too far away, and flew low behind ruined buildings.

"Aroouuu! She's snatched for sure, poor thing!" said Bag-of-Nails as he danced about on the road.

Weed squeaked in dismay and Qawasha shook his head as the thing flew away. The gargoyle that had caught Dellrak, its net now torn, flew off in the same north-by-north-easterly direction, ignoring Myrral who called insults after it.

Miss Imogen turned to the remaining gargoyle. Her bowstring gone, she attempted a new thing: Since wearing Artus Cimber's ring, she had felt a cold power stir within her, and she attempted to use it to freeze the gargoyle. Unfortunately, it seemed to snap out of the stupor that had befuddled it (Myrral's curse) and looked as if it was about to rend Chrysagon with its mighty claws.

But the Paladin was ready. Calling on Kelemvor to guide his strike, he spun his censer-flail and struck the creature a mighty blow in the side of the head, which exploded on impact and sent a shower of smaller stones skidding across the road. The body stood there, headless for a moment, and then crumbled to dust.

Miss Imogen runs 60' north along the road, hoping to catch sight of one of the escaping gargoyles. As she runs, she reaches for a replacement bowstring, but doesn't get to string it as she moves.

OOC: Move and Action: Dash.

Imogen ran as fast as she could up the road while desperately trying to restring her bow. Bag-of-Nails called after her (though she didn't understand his mix of growls and howls), "Hoohoo. I wouldn't bother. You'll never catch up to them. They're off to him to deliver their scoop. I don't know what they were thinking, just taking little her. Not very bright, no."

OOC: The Gargoyles can fly 120 feet per round. They're flying low behind buildings and they'll be gone in no time. I mean, sure, Imogen has quite the range with her bow, but even if she shoots one down, there's no guarantee that Ukee will survive the fall. We can keep trying if you insist, though.

OOC: Not going to insist, b ut if there's a chance to catch them (600' range) she'll do so -- if there's line of sight, she stops and fires. If there's not, then that's fine too, but zhe has no disadvantage at range.

After having dispatch the gargoyle, Chrysagon turned and followed the others. What are we doing? Following the gargoyles to rescue Ukee, yes?

Action: Dash
Move: S10

"Ahoo! And off they go into the hornet's nest!" Bag-of-Nails called, shaking his head in shame, "He will laugh to know you are so easily tricked! Hoo, so quick to jump into the mouth of the snake!"

Then, as he watched them go, running northward along the raised road, he added, "Of course, you will never get there! Oh no! The King of Feathers will eat you first!"

"Old one, we're going. I'll stop them if I can, to stop and think a bit, but we're going. Are you with us?"

Myrral drops to all four and races forward, trying to keep the fliers in sight.

The Sticks would not allow one of their own to be taken, even if it was only a little monkey. They rushed northward, along the worn, but solid stone road. Occasionally they got a glimpse of a gargoyle, flying fast and far ahead behind the ruined buildings of Omu. The two gargoyles were flying north, low over the river, shrouded in mist and only visible for very brief glimpses. At the speed they flew, it would only be moments before they were gone.

As she ran, Imogen strung her bow and nocked an arrow. She would not get too many chances to take the shot, and she had to be sure to get the right gargoyle. Furthermore, she would have to pick a moment where Ukee would not be lost to the river. Harb could revive her, even if she did not survive the fall - Nanny Pupu had given him the means - but they would need her body recoverable. Better still, of course, would be to find the right moment that she could be saved, intact.

OOC: Okay, "three skill challenge" time. Everyone give me three skill rolls that you feel would help to save Ukee, and your reasoning. I'll get back to you on what happens. Don't forget to have at least someone look out for trouble. You are running north into unknow territory.
