"This is your house?" Wireth asks the air, since he can't pinpoint the creature. "We weren't trying to intrude! We're trying to track down some dangerous people, and your house looks to be on their hit list. We're here to help, if you stop biting everyone!"

"You are not going to tell us that those rats outside were your pets, are you?" asks an annoyed looking Suldrel as he relaxes from his battle ready stance.

Fastus had obviously missed a whole CHUNK of things somewhere... "What dangerous people?" he whisper-asked Elli as the main conversation went on.

Weren't they hunting for buried treasure?

Sachiko bursts into laughter for a moment, the absurdity of the situation tickling her beyond endurance. But as everyone prepares for the rat onslaught, she closes her eyes, takes a deep breath and holds it, and listens.

Jariah did not think the creature originally lived in the house's walls. But it could very well have made its home here recently. In fact that seemed vary likely.

“Sorry, but I doubt you made this house just so you could reside in the walls. What happened to the original owner? Did you kill them?”

Jakira grumbled, “Why would anyone wanna live in the walls? Just wierrrd ifin ya askin' me. Buggerrr shud live inna grrround like any otherrr crrritterrr.”

The tiny voice continues. "I will stop biting when you leave!"

"They were allies of a sort. I do not mourn their loss."

Sachiko has determined that the voice is coming from near the front of the house near Elsbeth. But it is difficult to determine the exact location.

"The witch died nearly four years ago. She died from one of her experiments I think. I claimed the house as mine. I let the rats have the shed and I took the house. Now leave or I will bite some more!"

"Oh, so THIS is Old Megus' house? She hasn't been coming to town for a while now," informed Fastus as an aside. "People were saying she'd turned herself into a swamp zombie or something."


OOC: Still ready with the Grapple. And, as luck would have it, near Elli as well.

The elf, for his part, decides that perhaps leaving the interior of the house is not inadvisable given the poor condition it is in and the temperament of the current resident. After stepping out of the door he turns back to see if his companions are following suit, but he is not going to retreat further in any case.

Jariah followed Suldrel back outside, and the feline eidolon followed with some reluctance. Besides exploring what they believed to be a vacant house, they had no real business inside. The creature, whatever it was, had only been defending its territory from invasion, so the were not even without their rights to really attack it back knowing more now.

Out of earshot from the creature, Jariah said, “Now what? The only harm it has done is defend the house against our breaking and looking around. It just wants to be left alone, I think.”

Jakira grumbled, “Awww, its a rrrat. That's all the rrreason we need.”
