"There is also the owner of the Rusty Dragon. Amy something?"
"A-mei-ko Kai-jit-su," sounded out the young blacksmith, apparently a bit miffed ANYBODY could forget the most important person in town...

"It scratched Suldrel, a bit," he pointed when the call for healing sounded.

As for the story, he'd missed most of the beginning of it so he figured he probably WASN'T the best one to tell it... "You want to do the honors, Sachi?"

Wireth Norin, half-orc falconer

By the time the halfling produced free healing aid, Wireth's own suspicions were relatively relieved.

"It might be a good idea to make camp. I know it's early in the day, but we've already had ... a lot to contend with. And we don't know what was eating everything on the way here.

"Food, time to suss things out and talk it over, might be worth it,"
he offers by way of his own vote.

"Besides, it seems like we might need to have a ... talk about gifts from the gods?" here he glances to Faustus before trying to catch the eyes of the others. Not knowing what he's capable of isn't safe for him or us.

"Given that the Warden has offered us his house to use as a base camp," says Suldrel, looking towards the halfling, "Perhaps he does not believe this was ever going to be a one excursion attack on the goblins. We have potions still, and if we could smash them in one blow I would consider pushing onwards while we still perhaps have some kind of element of surprise. But if that is not the case then resting here and getting our swamp bearings in the immediate vicinity would not be a bad idea at all."

"Besides, it seems like we might need to have a ... talk about gifts from the gods?" here he glances to Faustus before trying to catch the eyes of the others.
"I'm fire," supplied the blacksmith in question with a slightly bothered frown, like someone patiently explaining the solution to life, the universe and all the rest. (A bit sadly too: he'd never REALLY understood why Elli could do all that other stuff when all he could do was heat... Although he could do heat REAL WELL!). "And you DO see HIM healing ME right now, right?"

Walthus was indeed doing that at the moment, declaiming from his scroll while Fastus pulled his chain-shirt aside to look in fascination at the shrinking contusions where the creature's doubled fists had slammed into him and brought him down. (Although it hadn't been that big a deal, really... It never was.)

Elsbeth

The young half-elf silently listened to the conversation going on around her. Ameiko had told her once that sometimes you learn more by listening and letting others talk.

The Warden seemed to be who he claimed he was. So far she had not seen any indication that he was another of those creatures.

"You seem trustworthy to me. I will accept your hospitality."

The way Fastus said Ameiko's name made her start to think he liked her. That made her feel...uneasy perhaps. No, that wasn't the right word. She had no idea why she felt this way. After all, Fastus was a good friend like Sachiko was.

"If the rest of you wish to continue into the swamp in search of Goblins, then I will go to."

Sorry for the slow posting. I've been busy with work the past couple of weeks. This week I'm busy with the purchase of a vacation home.

Jakira licked his lips and spoke immediately, “Time forrr brrrunch an’ then a nap!”

Jariah gave her eidolon a look and mentally told him to calm down a moment. She was more than satisfied that the Warden was not a second imposter, her doubts only arose when he evaded answering her questions the first time.

“We thank you for the hospitality and I welcome the use of your abode for basing ourselves for hunting the goblins.”

“I only partially agree with you, Suldrel. I do not think we are looking at a quick excursion to take on all the goblins at one time. I think we might be hunting them for a number of days.”

“However, I also had the impression that we needed to get started yesterday when we were told to do this. Wasting the rest of today means that we will have delayed nearly two days in the task. If possible we should do some hunting around the immediate area this afternoon at least.”

“But, let us hear more about what Master Proudstump has to say concerning the goblins before we decide. Warden, would you please explain?”
she asked the Halfling.

"But first!" proclaimed Sachiko, "we must introduce ourselves and tell the action-packed tale of how we rescued him!

"I am, of course, none other than the Illustrious Dreaming Sage, Sachiko!" She struck a pose, but quickly moved on. "And this dour but handsome fellow is my twin brother, Suldrel. You may know him as The Scowling Snow Otter. This crazy cat thing is Jakira, and his lovely pet there is Jariah. The hairy man in denial is Fastus, and his exquisite lady, Elsbeth. And glowering ofer there is Wireth who, it is said, once killed a man just for killing a man just for snoring too loud."

"As for what happened, we came here to ask about goblins because Ameiko gave us a QUEST. The you that opened the door was obviously fake so I killed it while everyone else distracted it by getting knocked out. Then I found the real you upstairs. And then I told you all this. Now you're caught up."

Wireth Norin, half-orc falconer

Wireth opened his mouth, brows furrowed, to respond to Faustus, but as Wireth stumbled with how to confront someone he wanted to thank--and who complicated matters by being human--the others who had more presence of mind spoke.

He nodded his agreement to those who thought a close excursion might be called for, then his eyes widened slightly as Sachiko related her tale. The half-orc glanced to the turkey vulture beside him, muttering, "The little one killed that thing?" Nairo cocked his head to one side and issued a soft chirrup.

Wireth's shoulders slumped slightly for a moment, then he shook off his embarrassment to listen to what the warden had to say about the goblins nearby.

[sblock=ooc]Also, "killed a man just for killing a man just for snoring too loud" is awesomesauce. [/sblock]

Fastus raised a hand: "I don't know about you guys, but maybe we could discuss all this goblin stuff over a glass of... something?" he suggested, eying the warden...

Bleeding was thirsty work apparently.

When it came to a vote on what to do next, he simply lifted his chin and blew a little burning ring of fire with a subdued roar, like smoke from a pipe-smoker's mouth. "Still got plenty of fire left," he agreed with a smile.

The hairy man in denial is Fastus,"
"Hey there."

"and his exquisite lady, Elsbeth.

"Tell it right, Sachi," chuckled Fastus at this point. That couldn't be what happened, could it? He turned to Suldrel: "How did it REALLY go?"

Wireth's shoulders slumped slightly for a moment, then he shook off his embarrassment to listen to what the warden had to say about the goblins nearby.
Fastus, usually not the one most in-tuned with other people's feelings, couldn't help noticing that though... Maybe because Wireth's shoulders took up a good half of the halfling's entrance room?

Anyway, as the others discussed he reached up and - hesitated - then thumped the side of that armored shoulder anyway: "Hey, don't sweat it: we all came through so we must have done SOMETHING right, right? That burning thing fought SMART. I mean: ALWAYS going after the strongest first -" His pale brown eyes swiveled to smile Elli's way, just in case she was listening "- ALWAYS finishing off the wounded before moving on? That thing was INSANE! You, me and Elli, we got its attention away from the others long enough: and that spelled VICTORY!" In Sachi-sized letters apparently, but still!

"As far as goblins here in Brinestump Marsh go. The Licktoad goblins have been acting a bit braver than normal of late. I am not sure where they got their fireworks but it seems to have made them quite bold. As far as getting to their village. The Old Fish Trail leads their. Also I think I heard something said about mice for my snakes. As a token of friendship I will accept three of your mice since I only have the three remaining snakes. But I feel that I must compensate you for saving me." He goes up to his room and returns with a well used cloak. "Please accept this magical cloak as partial compensation for defeating the beast. It has served me well for many years and I hope it does likewise for you."
