Elsbeth

Elsbeth became nervous as they entered the swamp. She had never been in a place so creepy before. She felt like there were hundreds of eyes watching her every move. Intellectually, she knew it was foolish to feel this way but that didn't change the fact that she did.

As the group walked along, she looked from side to side trying to see anything hiding in the fog.

"Yes, well...it's to be expected," Sachiko commiserated. "You've got no experience talking to women is the thing." She tapped her temple meaningfully. "You've got no idea what they like. On top of that, Ameiko's not even from these parts originally, so that leaves you dead in the water with her."

Sachi paused, then added, "Or it would, that is. Fortunately, there is a star to guide you to the promised land."

Just a little while ago Suldrel might have give his sister a "friendly nudge" at this talk of Fastus and Ameiko, when just last night she was going on about Elsbeth and Fastus, but right now the elf is focused on the dangers lurking in the swamp. He takes a few exploratory prods at the water with the butt of his spear while he scans the area and keeps his ears open.

After the afternoon trek the day before, Jariah had not been terribly worried about the short journey to the Warden’s abode. But something about the morning mist and the swamp’s sound caused her pause.

“This feels different than yesterday,” she said softly.

Jakira perked up, “What?”

With her eidolon near the front of the group, Jariah was more towards the rear as they listened carefully and looked around. Jariah was trying to be vigilant, but Jakira was distracted by his rumbling stomach.

Wireth Norin, half-orc falconer

Wireth tries to take point, given how much time he spent in the wild. He should have been a reasonable guide, but he found himself unfocused. He didn't like crowds to begin with, and with so many of them being human ... he shook his head to clear it, glanced up to Nairo circling above. He was better than all this. He needed to get over his hangups and set to the job at hand.

[sblock=ooc]Wireth no see anything, Nairo might catch a glimpse if there are glimpses to catch:

"I talk to you and Elsbeth plenty," protested the young man in the pause, suddenly insulted. At this speed he wasn't limping at all, going for a sort of confident, unhurried stride (he'd been practicing it in secret for - well, ever since the incident, so pretty much his entire life!). "And Elsy. Jassica. And missus Roders, and fisherman Luke's..."

He trailed off and his shoulders dropped as he remembered his heart beating like it wanted out of his chest, the rush of blood to his face after Ameiko's reprimand: burn it, she's RIGHT: it's just not the same thing AT ALL, is it?

"But I do SO know what Ameiko-"

"Or it would, that is. Fortunately, there is a star to guide you to the promised land."
THAT shut him up, already open mouth closing back up with an audible snap.

"There is?" She certainly had his (eager, undivided) attention now. Although, "This isn't one of your jokes, is it?"

His pale brown gaze flicked beyond her, towards Elsbeth, to confirm or infirm - but she wasn't looking their way at all for some reason.

"Nope!" Sachiko said brightly. "This is a far nobler cause! So this is how it's going to work. You want to shoot your arrow of love into Ameiko's heart. To do that, you have learn like any archer would. You need a teacher, and you need...a practice target."

She looks over the others speculatively. Her amber eyes linger on Jariah for a moment, but when Jakira glances back at her, she shakes her head and moves on. Finally she nods, reaching her decision.

"Elsbeth. We need you too. Fastus, you woo HER like you would Ameiko. I will give you correction and instruction, and then Elsbeth can tell us if it's working. We'll make you a champion with the ladies in no time!"

Wireth Norin, half-orc falconer

"Are you certain Ameiko is even interested in men?" Wireth asks, bluntly inserting himself into the conversation again; apparently he's slow to learn the intricacies of human social interaction.

He chops a hanging vine out of the way with his double blade and continues without looking back to Sachiko and Faustus:

"I've never heard her to take on any of what I hear are quite a few hopeful male suitors, have you? And even spending time out on adventures saving each other's lives didn't put her in Sandru's bed. You have to wonder."

Here he finally does turn around, a light look on his face which isn't quite decipherable. "I mean, have you seen the shoulders on Sandru?"

Fastus' eyes went wide when he heard the details of Sachiko's master plan: "Ah?!" And he'll actually blush crimson if Elsbeth looks anywhere near them and/or looks like she'd heard.

Desperately switching his gaze between his two friends, he turned on Sachiko: "THAT'S NOT SOMETHING YOU-" he began to whisper-shout.

"Are you certain Ameiko is even interested in men?" Wireth asks, bluntly inserting himself into the conversation again; apparently he's slow to learn the intricacies of human social interaction. (...) "I mean, have you seen the shoulders on Sandru?"
Several emotions flicked accross the young blacksmith's features as he turned to stare at the orc, blinking, the most obvious being WHAT?!, followed closely by the impression he should be insulted for Ameiko's sake without really knowing why. (Well, there WAS the 'jumping into Sandru's bed' part, but...)

"So you like Sandru?" he asked instead, puzzled.

(It was at least something to say that specifically DIDN'T concern Sachiko's 'plan': he was STILL blushing, and DEFINITIVELY avoiding Elsbeth's gaze, although he was uncomfortably conscious he could see her at the edge of his vision there...)

Wireth found himself on the recieving end of one of Sachiko's very rare frowns. Just for a moment, then it was gone and she was focusing entirely on Fastus.

"It's just for practice," she soothed. "You can't expect to get good at something without practice. How long did it take you to learn smithing? Or were you swinging the hammer when the midwife scooped you up?"

She waved a hand dismissively at Wireth. "As for the rest, it doesn't matter. What I'll teach you will help you with any woman! If Ameiko isn't interested in men, well, then there's always the next one! But either way, you'll want to know your stuff before you put yourself on the line."
