Angis Honack
River
Evening

As the boat beached, Angis jumped out and dashed for the nearest cottage, taking cover in the darkness. The goblins were backlit by the flaming cottage, so that would be to their advantage.

OOC: My heavy crossbow has a hundred foot range. Angis will shoot from the darkness when he gets there. Advantage for Surprise/hidden?

Lionel disembarks with the others, his small form racing for cover. At this range he was useless but he could keep and eye out for the others.

Location: Delimbiyr River South Bank

Encounter: Goblin Raiding Party

Round Zero

By the time the river-boat ground up on shore, the goblins had set fire to another cottage. A small band had worked their way toward the cottage on the hill, disappearing into the tall grass. The big hobgoblin with the topknot was obviously this raiding party's leader: He was pointing and and yelling at the others, and had directed a few in loading the terrified river-folk into their boat, then he moved across the rocky bank, directing the burning of the other cottage.

A woman screamed and ran out the back of the cottage only to be tripped up and jumped on by goblins. Around that time, the river-boat ground up on the rocks. It was unclear as to if the goblins had noticed or not, but they quickly discovered the presence of the rescuers as Enseth clanged his way up the bank toward them, shining his head-lantern. Angis' quarrel burried itself firmly in a goblin's face, and the loathsome creature fell backward onto the ground.

GM: Okay, we'll start from here. Here's everyone's positions, and a few things that happened before the fight starts for real. Everyone can roll Init and post actions right away. Enseth will be dodging until his turn at the end of the round, but then he can act.

I forgot to put the lighting on the map. Enseth has a 60' cone of bright light in front of him, an the burning buildings give off 30' radius bright light. Most of the place is either dim light or bright light, is what I'm saying, except where the party is.

OOC: I do not know if it is just me, but I cannot read the X and Y axis of that map. It is too small. [roll0] Any chance of a slightly bigger map?

OOC: The only way to do a "bigger" map is to show less. It gets resized. That's why I left the three goblins up the hill off of the map. But here's a zoom-in for you:

Dandin chuckled quietly to himself as he peeks around the corner from being Angus. He judges the best spot to affect the most goblinoids and kicks off a spell to draw as many as possible into the realm of dreams. Then he slips around to the other corner of the wall and peeks that way to see what he can see.

Squirrels are evil!

Lionel scampers and hurls a dagger at one of the distant figures before moving in along side Angis.

[sblock=action]

Move to L 25. On the way hurl dagger at goblin, disadvantage due to range.

Drui's short legs don't allow him to follow Enseth closely. Still, the cleric feels responsible, and refuses to leave the entity alone at the forefront. He jumps down from the boat, marching ahead as fast as he can, bashing his axe against his shield and rising a guttural war cry as he approaches Enseth's position. Hopefully he can split the attacks and help bring the others to safety.

As soon as he is able to protect Enseth's flank, he stops dead on his tracks. Looking forward, he prays to his god:

"Tempus, god of war, may our enemies' deaths be a sacrifice to your glory, and grant us victory tonight! But, should their valor surpass ours, take my life as your due and lay my corpse on these fields!"

Drui rises his axe, invoking his god's protection, and taunts the greenskins once more.

[OOC - Casting Shield of Faith on self and, if time allows, standing by the side of brave Enseth! Any possible side will do!]

Enseth advances frontally toward those dark creatures, blinding them with his headlamp. When Drui reaches his side, he stands its ground and form a shield line side by side with the dwarf. Listening carefully to the prayer, Enseth worries for his new friend.
"The danger is now quite close, Master Drui. I wanted to let you know that it was a pleasure to meet you. I hope you will survive this confrontation."

The hostility of those Goblins is now established and confirmed. Facing his enemies, Enseth shouts, "Identify yourself. You now have 5 seconds to comply. Damage may result!"

OOC:
Enseth advances toward the goblins but not at full speed to stays side by side with Drui and he taunts the gobs.

Titus moves to Q24, firing a bolt from his crossbow bolt at the nearest goblin, the hobgoblin if possible. He then takes what cover he can from the building.
