D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

"No, no," Sir Darfin corrected Vairar who had missed some of the conversation while deep in his own thoughts, "By all means look into the orcs on your way to Ardeep Forest. Harpshield Castle is not hard to find; ten miles north and only a mile or so east of here."

“An’ if we clear the orcs oot o’ ‘arpshield, tha’ cuild give us a base up there t’ work from,” Angis mused. “Anywhere else th’orcs are causin' problems?” he asked.

OOC: I have a note here about the orcs at Newfield? Where is that in relation to everything? And where are things in relation to the lizardfolk at Rock Tower and Crom’s Hold?

Vairar - elven cleric
Tommi - human rogue urban bounty hunter
Dandin - halfling bard guild merchant
Angis Honack - dwarven ranger outlander merchant
Lionel - halfling rogue folk hero
Escella - Human sorcerer

"Apologies, I should have paid more attention. We can go as far as I'm concerned. We need to sleep, recover, hopefully Titus and Lady Shalendra will be alright."

Vairar looks around thinking what he knows about these unlikely heroes.

Tommi is young and reckless, they are all so young. Even the dwarf is under a century. But he seems more focused than the rest. Escella is a wild card, with her brush with Sing-Axe and the gnolls and mysterious powers she wields. Can he trust her? Lionel looks as if he's still deciding if he wants to go...how will he behave in the crisis? On the other hand, he held his own down in the portal room and didn't run away. Halflings may be tougher than they look.

Stopping his gaze at the elven lord
"We are few and not everyone is at home in the wilds. Excepting maybe Angis here. Maybe we can get another scout who knows the area? But I'd hate to take away from the defenders of the manor. We wouldn't risk the scout, just use him to get us there quickly and as safely as possible."

As a scout for Kelson Darktreader (the Duke of Daggerford's scoutmaster), Escella knew the area well enough to know where the ruins of Harpshield Castle were. She had never explored the site, but she had seen it from a distance. It was an unremarkable ruin on a hill at the south-eastern edge of Ardeep Forest. She was confident that she could lead the group there in six hours of hard marching. The orcs would be barely be settled in for the day if the group left right away.

"I go!" half-orc that scowled until now at various suggestions standing off to one side with his arms crossed barked in
"Lord no more help, I kill orcs."

Lionel joins Tommi at the front of the manor gate. He had paid the kitchen a visit and collected some rations. Then he gone to see how Bessie the Mule fared and prepared her for the trip. he packed up the small cart with his belongings, including a few more bolts fro his crossbow. He was ready to travel.

While checking on Bessie, Lionel met Dandin, who was outside going over some basic training with his new bear, Ol'Sooty.

"I think I'll be sitting this next one out," said the halfling merchant, "Ol'Sooty was badly abused by the orcs. I don't think it will suit his training to run into them so soon; at least, not yet. I'm still learning how to train him myself. One of these druids offered to give me a hand. When Sooty's training is coming along, I think I'll take him back to Daggerford. You'll have to make a good showing for me, Lionel. Show 'em how us halflings do it. I know you have it in you."

It wasn't long before Angis came outside too, and removed the mounted crossbow from the roof of the gatehouse. He reattached it to the roof of the War Wagon. Tommi had placed the halves of ORB5 into their place inside the still inert body of Enseth. About ten minutes later, there was a whirring and a clicking noise, and the nest-chamber opened to reveal a shiny new orb that buzzed around Tommi's head excitedly and said (this was the first time that one of Enseth's orbs had spoken in anything other than sharp whistles), "Self Designation: Oh-Six. Identify: Tommi. Hello, Tommi. Gratitude for initiate repair/upgrade."

"Surprisingly, that is not the strangest things we've seen these past two days," Escella says as she arrives in the courtyard. "If we are all here we can head out. Do we have rations on the cart for everyone?"
