[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

"The guardians will destroy all who walk these lands. They are mindless and care nothing for life, only to stop the awakening of the demons. The demons feed off the stars or so the old ones say. We know not how this will happen, that the demons will eat the stars and bring darkness to all." Thirteen translates.

"I don't understand..." Jihahna mutters to the Kwi; "Some outsider tribes have weapons that can annihilate solid rock. Why not just kill the demons?" Her heart skips a beat or two. She fears the next answer... That the demons cannot be killed maybe?

Thirteen translates back "The outsiders in the mountains who dig, they awaken the Guardians. The Guardians were created by the ancients to destroy demons that sleep in the mountains. But to due so they will kill all that lives here. Either the guardians will destroy the outsiders and the tribes here, or the outsiders will defeat the guardians and awaken the demons. Either way we die... it matters not if by the guardians or the demons. You outsiders must make those who dig leave. If you do not we will bring war. All of the tribes will come to bring war."

The gand looks askance towards Cal and the two Jedi....

If they don't have something to add right away, he'll inquire: click drone, mumble slurr hum clacketty slur "These mountains are vast, Kwi warrior, stretching from north to south." click hum drone clicketty jumble "What parts are sacred to the Kwi?" click hum drone mumble clicketty, slur "What parts should absolutely not be touched?"

If it helps, she'll borrow Cal's map-pad and present it, or draw in the dirt by the edge of the pond, trying to get an idea of the size and location of the 'forbidden zone'. Its movements are sharp now, almost... eager?

click mumble slur drone click "The Kwi always knew the miners were sentient," echoes back the gand towards Jihahna Darut. click hum WHIR "The Kwi did not use stun." click drone jumble "The Kwi made their choice."

She looks expectantly towards the human female with... Is that amusement? Teasing maybe?

Something else?

Jihahna prepares to speak back at the Gand before she stops herself. Arms crossed, she begins tapping her foot, a sly smile appearing on her face, "Okay Gand, fair call, but... What do you propose? What are you thinking we should do to solve the problem. Are you hoping to talk us out of fighting the mercs?"

Cal glanced at the Gand oddly, finding it interesting the creature would project galactic values on an isolated people. Shrugging, he handed over his map reader and continued listening. It seemed pretty clear to him. The Kwi feared that the miners would disturb something in the mountains, which may or may not exist. To them, it was such an existential threat that they were willing to attack the miners. The medic would have chalked it all up to misplaced superstition if it hadn't been for the feelings the Jedi were getting.

"Well, most of us are here because the Republic asked us to stop a massacre of the Kwi. While they didn't quite mention stopping a massacre of the miners, I think that can be safely assumed. Seems the only way we can stop either from happening is to put a stop to the mining and divert the bounty hunters, at least until Czerka decides the expense outweighs the potential profit. Seems a tall order..."

Responding to this Gands inquiry, Thirteen translates back the Kwi's reply "The mountains are vast, and we do not know the extend of where the demons domain. It would be better if no one too disturb them. I cannot say what hill or rock a demon might sleep in. Many. But we know it is forbidden. All will suffer if demons awake."

The Kwi scout looks at the mapreader but takes a couple of steps back when it lights up and projects the mountains. Thirteen says "It appears he does not understand what you are showing him. They have no concept of maps it appears..."

Jihahna nods at the medic. "I agree with you Cal. I think this Gand does too, it's just teasing ME..... I think,". Jihahna raises an eyebrow in its direction before leaning towards it. "Careful though Buddy, the way you're talking so philosophically, people are going to think you're a Jedi too!" Jihahna pauses a moment before continuing.... "Hmmm, Buddy.... Hey Gand, is it ok to give you guys nicknames or would that be offensive? Buddy is just slang for friend yeah? I had tried to think of one before like Sharps or Cracks, which could be short for Sharpshot or Crackshot respectively. Whad'ya think?"

Uncomfortable shifting: guttural jumble click mumble click "One without name leaves no trace..." As to the rest: click slurr clack "The Kwi are primitive now." click jumble slur, mumble clicketty clack low-hum "If the Kwi will not compromise, stopping them without killing should be easier?"

It considers, not looking as certain as before.... and then she perks up, reddish compound eyes glinting in the grey light: guttural click slur clacketty click drone, jumble hum "Or these ones could prove to the Kwi that there is no guardian near the mine site?"

To the Kwi, with a deep dip of the head: guttural clicketty drone click "Thank you for warning these humble ones." guttural cruck clacketty click "These ones will warn the outsiders who dig of their danger." cruck clacketty jumble drone mumble click drone "The outsiders who dig have eyes that can see through the ground." cruck jumble-mumble drone clicketty "They will look around the place where they dig now..." drone jumble hum "What do the demons look like?" drone jumble click "What do the guardians look like?" click mumble long-hum low-hum "Can the Kwi warrior draw them?"

This last with a gesture to a nearby dirt patch?

Thirteen translates back "No one alive has seen a Guardian. The ancients did not speak of what they looked like. Only that that where vast and great. That to stop the demons that they would destroy all life here..."
