[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

"Are you kidding?" Jihahna says with a smile as she approaches the gand. "It's me who needs to ask forgiveness!" She places a gentle hand on the Gands shoulder, her smile does not entirly fade, but a more serious expression takes over. She closes her eyes and takes a breath.

"I am not myself." She turns to the two jedi. "Maybe i should back away from the decision making for now? That might be good. Clear my head unless i'm asked".

She realises now she has been ignoring the Kwi and politely turns to face it.

Cal simply stood where he was, attempting to keep track of any threats in the vicinity. He wasn't sure what was going on with the monologues, he just knew he had a job to do. "Maybe I should ask if any of them are injured and see if I can treat them as a show of good faith."

Jihahna nods in Cals direction. "Whether they allow you to do so now or later, something tells me you'll need to Provide them with medical aid at some point."

The gand tilts her head on one side... then the other... then it too quickly focuses back on the kwi warrior, saving her questions for later: guttural mumble jumble "With these ones approval?" The Kwi warrior has definitively noticed the hiatus in translation... and the following discussion.

After a pause the gand addresses the huge reptile (hopefully with help from GE3-T3, of course): guttural click clacketty hum drone jumble "Some in this group do not think the outsiders are truly evil." guttural click, mumble click jumble whirr "These ones ask: Why do the Kwi war with the outsiders?"

That should explain it... And maybe even incite the kwi to answer if it wants their help?

Thirteen makes sure this is what the team wishes to convey to the Kwi and then translates the Gands message. The Kwi responses, as translated, is "You come from the stars, we know. Legends of old say only evil come from stars. Demons. These mountains are forbidden. Once home to demons. You outsiders come here, dig into forbidden mountains. Guardians awake. If they awake, all life here end. If outsiders beat guardians or dig to deep, then all the stars in the sky will go out. All life ends everywhere..."

Thirteen then mutters "Oh heavens... but I am sure it is simply primitive legends and myths..."

Jihahna nods slowly at the translation. "Pretty creepy stuff Thirteen, well look, don't stress your circuits over it."

She turns to the Jedi again, "Ok, an evil that's being woken up in the mountains that we don't want to wake up, I get it, I have the force, but what does the force care about this stuff going on? It's dragged two Jedi here to try and fix this problem, so what do we do?"

Jihahna looks in the Gands direction, "And to be honest, i've got no qualms with stunning those mercenaries at least. They themselves know the Kwi are sentient PURELY because after they were told, Czerka offered them increased pay rather than argued about it."

Jihahna moves a rock to and fro with her foot, "Maybe after dealing with the mercs nice and gently, we can grab the data we need from the Kwi, get the data back to the republic and then hit the mountains to i don't know.... Administer a 'sleeping pill' to whatever is there". She shrugs in the medics direction as she says this.

The little alien's absent ears perk up at the mention of these demonic guardians...

But: jumble click mumble clicketty hum low-whirr, clacketty click "If the outsiders don't dig near the demons, would the Kwi be willing to negotiate for peace?" is all she lets out for now (with an 'if you please?' gesture to GE3-T3).

To Jihana Darut, puzzled, as the droid translates, jumble drone slurr, drone click whirr-clicketty "Why is Jihahna Darut surprised that hunting bandits costs more than hunting beasts?"

Jihahna raised both hands to the Gand, "No er heh, I know that hunting sentients is more expensive, I'm just saying that Czerka lied in the first place to get the mercs here and instead of arguing their point, they just offered greater pay, which was actually why I pulled out of the job."

Jihahna uses her foot to dig a small trench in the ground as she continues, "I was originally one of those mercs, I was contracted to kill NON-SENTIENT species, but any company that starts business with a lie, well, In my mind, you can't trust them. If instead they had argued with me that the Kwi were in fact not sentient and could provide evidence, i'd prefer that over a 'bribe' to look the other way any day."

She crosses her arms before continuing, "I'm trying to build up a 'cleaner' portfolio that I can be proud of, you know. Now my original point was that THOSE mercs made their choice. They've been warned about the Kwi being sentient, but are happy to look the other way for a price, so my point was that I have no qualms shooting at them at least on stun."

Thirteen issues some additional seemly random chirps and whistles to the Kwi, and translates back "If outsiders leave forbidden mountains, we will leave outsiders alone. We do not want war, but will will if outsiders not leave these lands. Even if outsiders numbers are more then the stars in the sky, we must. Even if we die, it is a better death then what the guardians or demons will bring..."

Jihahna turns to the Kwi, "And...How exactly would the demons and guardians bring an end?" She looks nervous as she says this, her memory of that feeling bubbling on the surface of her mind.
