[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

Jihahna smirks back at the tattooed Jedi as he winks. "Hey listen buddy, Jedi or not, you just be careful going around making comments about a woman's age!" She says with a laugh. "You said 'usually' though huh? So there have been exceptions in the past?"

She looks to Kacela.... "Sooooo, your council doesn't completely veto ALL training to non-jedi? Well that's nice. I guess the claims i used to hear that they had an elitist mentality were false. I suppose they figure they can't just leave people like.... Well me, to fend for ourselves and go off the rails... As for the force, if with training you don't feel like it's out to harm you..."

Jihahna shrugs. "Maybe... Well..." She pauses as the party enters the clearing. The bolma coming into view. Jihahna smiles a little at the scene, flicking her hair out of her eyes once more. "Maybe it's not so bad..."

The gand touches Jihahna's upper arm - Comfort? Something else? - before addressing the silvered droid sitting in the far seat: grumble crack clicketty long-drone "GE3-T3, call out to the Kwi please."

OOC: If Kacela stops the speeder here, he/she will get off and stand by the side, waiting to see if any kwi come to them.

The droid tilts his head towards this Gand, replying "I am a bit confused my lady, I do not have any powers that might allow me to make them come to me? Are you still referring to Jedi powers perhaps? I have heard stories that they could do such things. Or you are you simply asking me to 'yell'? If so, my vocabulatior is standard issue and I am not equipped to projecting my voice at much higher level then I am presently speaking with you at..."

The large male bolma that first noticed the team chomps onto a large clump of fungus like mass and slowly starts chewing. It then takes a few steps towards the landspeeder, somewhat interposing itself between the vehicle and the other five grazers in the clearing.

Kacela smiles. "The Force is not out to harm you. But yes, training can help you. There's no hard and fast rule about who to train, or what circumstances to train them under. Each of the masters has their own ideas. I happen to agree with my first master, that teaching those who are sensitive to the Force to understand at least the basics is not only compassionate, but wise on a larger scale as well. Many Jedi are wary of teaching people to harness the power of the Force when they cannot also be taught the philosophy of how to use that power responsibly. There is a difference between knowing enough not to hurt oneself and others though, and knowing enough to run amok."

"As for the Kwi, I expect they know we're here, but they don't know we're friendly. I suggest we find either high ground, or water, and see how far we get before they stop us. Then we can try to communicate."

The nameless one makes a 'small delay please?' gesture.

Assuming Kacela agrees: grumble crack drone clickety jumble hum, long-drone "Please tell the kwi we are friendly and wish to talk, GE3-T3." guttural slur clicketty WHIRR "This humble one will provide the shouting."

She reaches for her vocoder. There's a small *pssshh*, the strong smell of ammonia. And then the gand is holding the gleaming silver disc in front of the droid's mouth grill, mandibles bare (and tightly closed).

OOC: Because he/she is holding his breath, of course (curse you O2!). Vocoder is on max volume (just the equivalent of a normal person shouting though).

Thirteen seems to react a bit with surprise but then nods his head makes a number of strange clicks and chirps that sound almost random and very 'animal' like. With this Gands vocal enhancers these sounds are protected over most of the clearing. The grazing animals grunt a bit and move to the other side of the clearing away from the team and the noise.

This Gand quickly returns his/her respirator/vocal unit and takes a safe breath. A few minutes go by with nothing happening...

...when three spears fly out of the jungle nearby and land in front of this Gand and the landspeeder!!!

GM: Reactions from team? This Gand and Cal both catch glimpses of lizard like beings in the thick cover around them but the creatures quickly move back out of sight. Surprise round, they have beat your Passive perception and then move back out of line of sight

Jihahna smiles at the gand, before turning to Kacela. "Okay, assuming I do possess some ability with the force, maybe we can talk later?"

In the minutes that pass as the party waited, Jihahna exited the speeder and stepped beside thirteen, waiting for a response. At the appearance of the three spears, she appears surprised, but does not react. She wonders if the Kwi missed unintentionally or on purpose.

With a puzzled frown, she keeps still, trying to think about what could convince the Kwi to talk. She turns to GE3-T3. "Thirteen, as loudly as possible, tell the Kwi we are here to try and help them, to stop those who would oppress them and to ask them why the evil spirits or dark... Energy wakes in the mountains. Tell them we have two Jedi or.... Er, spirit spirit shamen?... Or spirit warriors?... Who were drawn here by the... Spirits... And that the ones who have been mistreating the Kwi have tried to stop them from finding out the problem."

Jihahna looks about nervously after what she just said. A few hours ago, she would never have thought she was saying such words.

"A warning," Kacela surmises. "Given the situation, it's not a surprise they're wary of strangers."

She lifts her empty hands, trying to indicate nonverbally that they mean peace.

Cal frowned in consternation. It wasn't often that he failed to notice something. He kept his blaster carbine pointed at the ground, but moved as calmly as he could to interpose the speeder between himself and the kwi threat.

At Kacela's words the gand somewhat relaxes his ready pose and, hidden under the poncho, discretely returns her blaster to its holster.

jumble drone hum, clicketty jumble hum "Please do not escalate the conflict, Jihahna Darut."

It nonetheless extracts her vocoder once more, so that the droid can get their message across.
