D&D 5E [IC] The New World (Volo Monsters)

"They didn't know," Saashala says distantly. "They were just making camp here."

She doesn't dignify the comment about her being 'with them' with a response.

"Lets start at the beginning, shall we? Who are you, and what is your position in the human forces?"

Nert pockets the coins then piles all the other stuff near to where the fire was. "Now Ripnek can sleep warm again," he says, "But maybe smell like a human." When he finds the strange tooth necklace he smells it, pokes it with his finger and then puts it round his neck.

He snorts when Saashala gets to "human forces."

"Probably the same as yours in the forces of..." He looks around, and his voice trails off, perhaps thinking better of however he was about to describe you all. Then he looks back at Saashala. He seems to find it easier to speak to her, and avoids looking directly at Drutha or anyone else who joins the conversation as best he can.

Then he tries to compose himself. "Strongarm." He shuffles his feet a bit. "Uhh, Jeffrey Strongarm." His arm twitches, as if he was about to hold it out, and once again thought better of it. "And I don't, uhh, have a position. But maybe we could, uhh, have a look at that caravan, umm, together...?" He glances at Ripnek and shudders, but looks back to Saashala and seems to stand by his offer.

So a bandit then after all. Hmm.

"Jeffrey Strongarm, perhaps we can help one another. Your actions make you a criminal among your kind, yes? Those of us native to this land have a different philosophy."

She turned now to look at him, so like a human until one caught glimpses of the fangs hiding behind her lips.

"Do you want to be one of us?"

Round 0

Jeffrey Strongarm. Drutha shook her head. Humans had such strange names. She tched a bit when Saashala asked him if he wanted to join them.

“What are you doing?” she asked the snake-woman. “He will just betray us from behind!” She gripped her glaive, eager to run the man through and solve the problem.

He seems to be taken aback by Saashala's specific phrasing... and Drutha's warning. After a moment he replies cautiously, "Well I'd like to take down that caravan with you..."

Moon Moon observes, "Kobolds let themselves be enslaved. Bend to the whip. But stab them in the back and run first chance they get." then gets distracted again.

Nert looks up from his pile of loot and squints at the human, "Why you kill caravan?"

"Dwarves are tough. They'll be fine on their own. We can find something better to do with the loo-- uh, supplies."

[sblock="Moon Moon"]Though you're distracted, his false tone comes through. You absently note that he's hiding something.[/sblock]

Moon Moon starts sniffing around the man. He starts off calm, and gradually gets angrier. "Rat. Rat tell me someone take candle. Do you take candle? Do they take candle? WHERE IS CANDLE!?!"
