Morgrym grinned and swept his giant axe around, loosening up and making himself more threatening.

Hagadark prepares for combat, not by using extracts, but mutagen. He changes, not growing as such, just filling out. His jaw pushes forward and orcish tusks appear, his frame fills with muscle and eyes grow bloodshot. He shoots feral grin to the audience.

OOC: mutagen
[roll0] - my charisma is lowest, non-frightening orc :)

EDIT: LOL, everyone with negative modifier and we rolled higher than Shayuri with +9 :o

@MetaVoid, did you include your race bonus? I'm assuming not, so I added on my own. I'm also adding +2 for each success against the individual DC of each NPC, plus the extra bonuses for increased size - the main reason I asked everyone to roll, since two giants in the team might be a little intimidating. :)]

As the companions hold their ground, deep-voiced dwarf uncovers a small drum, which he begins to strike in controlled bursts, as if in old war summons. His companions try as hard as they can to focus on the pacing of the drum, but their heads keep rising to follow the growth of their enemies. That, along with the heroes' stern warnings, is enough to make them quit their endeavors. The drumming soon assumes a retreating rythm, until the human breaks the tense silence that surrounds the prelude to a potential battle.

"Damn, Squint, this isn't worth it!" - he says, a concerned glance in his eyes. The tough-looking halfling takes a second to evaluate the scenario, until his trembling body offers an answer.

"We'll say we never saw them." - he turns to the others. The rest of his crew agrees in silence, stepping aside to let the companions move out.

[Nicely done! I'll sum up the usual XP points for the conflict, of course, and give it a little extra for the creative use of potions. You have an open road ahead! Name your next actions, my friends!:)]

The orc smiles again at the halfling, licking and smacking his lips before chuckling to himself and moving past the group.
"Where can we find this employer of yours? You may not have to fear retribution if he goes after us." he rumbles as he passes the halfling. He doesn't stop, moving toward the chariot the group came in.

OOC: Hagadark replaces both Intimidating for Shamans Apprentice and Orc Ferocity (for sacred tattoos) - he looks more like human than orc except his skin is green. This changes only under mutagen effects.

Morgrym scowled as the ruffians backed down. Well, damnation! They’d gotten his blood up, and he’d gotten big and iron-skinned, and how they weren’t going to fight?

He supposed it was for the best, given that Adelia was here.

“Aye. I’d like t’ know jus’ ‘oo sent ye t’ mess wi’ us, tae,” the dwarf rumbled, agreeing with Hagadark. “Mebbe we pay a visit, set this roight.” He casually swung his axe around a bit more.

The thugs remain in silence, glancing at each other in fearful complicity. It's the human that betrays the others, as casually as one can be.

"You can find him at the back of the Long Return."

The others are appalled.

"What!" - it's the human's only reply. "Girl should know the place. It's beyond a bunch of abandoned caves west of here, along the wall. Can't miss."

The rest of the group can't quite find the words to define such a turn-coat move. Without asking, the human walks from the back, crossing the empty street and taking point. "Here, I'll get you there..." Squint's furious glance is evident, but still the halfling doesn't dare say a word. "Come on, Squint, this couldn't last forever. I can take the booze, I can take the orcs - no offense - I can even take extorsion, but slavery is waaay beyond any sense of decency."

"BUT YOU... YOU..." - Squint choked answer doesn't reach the human.

"Yeeaaah, I think our brief partnership has come to an end. I'm sorry, but it has to be so. And maybe, just maybe, your boss will learn not to cross the line next time."

He then turns to the companions.

"Shall we?"

Adelia shrinks behind Morgrym, avoiding everyone else's line of sight.

[Also, sorry if I messed up, guys. I'm without the printed sheets here - still on the road - and I have to go back and forth between the pages I use. MetaVoid, I remembered part of the changes by heart, but not all of them. :) All characters are so coherent it's easy to commit them to memory, but sometimes it slips away from me, lol.]

Morgrym grunted. “Good man,” he said, putting a giant hand on Adelia’s shoulder protectively. He glanced to the others before starting to follow the man. “Slavery, is it? Well, we’ll set tha’ roight, f’r sure.”
OOC: I’m assuming Morgrym won’t be big or iron skinned by the time we get there.

[Indeed, the effects will be gone, given the distance; in the meantime, running through the streets as a giant iron dwarf and an ogre-sized orc should be enough to put on quite a show :)]

The man moves forward, acknowledging the companions' words with modest nods. He's always looking over his shoulders, as if to make sure that a surprise attack won't come on the part of the giants, the horned figure or the shady monk, or even the covered woman. Such an ecletic party would already be enough to call attention as it is, should it move carelessly. With the set of burly fighters it becomes even more visible, although a bit of subtlety can easily make them pass for a pair of hired humanoid muscles, something not uncommon after the arrival of the orcs in the area.

[It's an easy one, but if you want to move without calling any suspitions, you can roll bluff or disguise - DC 10. It's dark and things like ogres an giants aren't uncommon in the area. Shady business would make it so they're brought to the fold; Morgrym can pass for an unusually big warrior, except for the heavy, 'earth-shaking' weight he is dragging now. I assume Shayuri is alredy covered, so no need for tests; same with the shady Marius. If you two want, you can hide your presences with the test, though]

The man tries to lead thre group through less crowded streets. Fortunately, the thick nature od dwarven constructions allows for passage even within the most confined areas. Finding people is unfortunately unavoidable at one point or another, but this doesn't seem to be cause for alarm.

[If you have any actions, questions, dialogue, etc., please post them and we'll adapt. Otherwise, we follow through to the next scene.]

Upon arrival, the companions realize that why the Long return is called so. Of all the subterranean constructions, it is the only one detached from all other buildings. From a corner in the distance they observe the cave walls going up, sustained by several columns and mildly lit by heatless fires. More than a hundred feet of plane, naked rock strectches from the houses to the walls. Adjacent to such walls, a small construction, made of multi-colored stones, shines in the distance. Behind it, a second building, apparently detached from the first, rises, escavated in the wall itself. Three-stores high, it betrays inhabitants by three solitary windows that shine faint lights into the dark, one above the other. Anyone playing this place a visit would find the walk back home to be particularly long and exposed, thus the fitting name.

Marius disappeared along the way keeping to shadows in front or parallel to the group. Shayuri or Mourgrym can talk. He will drop in inannounced at an opportune moment.

If possible, he will hide ON the wall not on the ground.

Ooc: I think Hagadark is still Medium sized. If mutagen increased his size and he used enlarge... Ouch! MetaVoid?
