OOC: Did you take into account that Daxio is flying about 30’ up and under Greater Invisibility? I know the Nightmares can fly, so that’s handled, but how are they seeing him to be able to attack him? I didn’t see you roll miss chance for the invisibility.

Also, what is the DC of the Fort save, and the consequences?

(OOC - Alright, Aranel detonates her Fireball right in the middle of the dark elves nearest her at Q11, catching I think 4 of them in the blast...as well as herself and a bunch of allies!)

[Ok, I'm splitting this into three different posts. The first one resolves Aranel's action; the second one resolves Daxio's, Zyara's and the enemies' actions; the third one resolves the last hero block. Sorry for being so short on my latest answers, but I sent messages from my cell phone - at work, basically! ;) Hope you guys enjoy our return. Thanks for all the patience and the help = after such a long downtime I had to walk a lengthy mile to get organized once more!]


ARANEL


From the tip of her finger, fire breeds and spins. It gains momentum as it travels, bullet-like, towards the enemies. By the time it arrives, it's already a full-grown fireball, and the explosion reaches far and wide, swallowing the enemies into a red cloud!

As the fires lift up, the land is even more scorched. Beyond, where Zyara and Batknight confront three of the knights, a nightmare falls, its black skin breaking under the heat! The other beasts leap in pain, one of them almost throwing down the rider as the flames weaken it greatly. The knights themselves are mostly unaffected, though, protected as they are by their profane sets of armor.

"Not even the fires of Hades can slay us!" - one of them screams, filled with pride, forcefully controlling a nightmare that's on its last legs.

OOC: Which knights are prone? Which horses are prone? Did anyone stand up within reach of Zyara? I think she had one last AoO she could use. Are the HP totals in the status sblock 120 - 114 = 6 hp left or "was" [-]120[/-] "now" 114?

Alice shrugged off the gas, grinning devilishly as her mutated arm lunged forth twice in quick succession, testing out the properties of the enchanted items.

"I had a nice evening I planned to fill by solving a mystery and/or flirting with nymphs and you had to go and ruin it. You're mad because you're humiliated? If you don't hit the road you're gonna run out of synonyms for that word to describe how badly we are gonna beat you down."

Arduniel backs off quickly, having a knight and the beast next to him is not his idea of good time as the wound he took can attest. His first move is to prevent that from happening again. Another call to his magic and stones roll up from the ground over Alice and him settling down in protective layer of shifting stone.

Barking one more word, pulse of focused sound flies toward the knight, but the angle from the ground is wrong and it flies off high above detonating with barely heard POP! He curses at himself, but there is nothing to do about the effect.

[Joe, you had nightmare 3 prone - now dead - and nightmare 4's still prone and going. The knights soft fell the trip. You can roll extra AoO on your next post before your attack and I'll resolve it as I resolve the regular turn. Let's see: you tripped a horse, got one AoO; the second one moved, you used another AoO and tripped it, and got a third AoO out of it. I guess you didn't roll your second attack for the second trip. The HP numbers displayed are always the amount they still have, never the amount taken from them. @Charlotte of Oz, do you maintain Alice's position? @MetaVoid, noted!]

This is not a complete turn for Zyara:

OOC: I'm going to do Zyara's turn a bit slower this time as whether or not the knight fall is important. 5 is still mounted.

Damn, so much to keep track of. I'm trying to figure out Z's hp total. How did knight 3 attack Zyara twice when he was supposed to be charging and then she interrupted that charge with her AoO Trip. He should only get one attack because the charge was still at least a move action (or even no attacks if the trip disrupts the charge's full action completely).

Moving forward, here's part of Z's action.


As a swift action, Zyara spends 2 ki points from her pool to gain Spell Resistance 22 for 12 rounds.

She swings her foot out low trying to trip the still standing horse.
Trip on Horse 5: 1D20+26 = [12]+26 = 38 Success, triggers 2 AoOs against the horse and maybe one against the rider
2 AoOs against nightmare and last 1 against rider if needed: 1D20+22 = [13]+22 = 35 HIT

(OOC - Just checking to make sure you applied Empowered to my rolled damage on the Fireball. It rolled 28 damage, then went to 42 due to being Empowered. Modified by saves and any applicable resistances of course. :))

As the mystical energies rise, the enchanter’s honeyed tong throws the suggestion against his enemies. He feels the energy rising and the minds breaking slowly, but suddenly the forces plummet down as if a blanket covers them! The spell fizzles without explanation!

Daxio glances around. None of the combatants could have brought his own spell down, that much he knows…

[Ok, the spell fizzled somehow, despite its enormous strength!]

ZYARA


As the monk moves forward, her foot brings yet another mount down! The knight is swift, though, and manages to land on its feet, relinquishing the lance as his colleague and pulling out his sword!

As the beast falls, the monk trusts against it quickly and furiously, breaking bones as the mount spits black blood as it stumbles! The creature falls dead, leaving the rider to mourn his loss.

In the blink of an eye, she continues, spinning again and bringing another foe down! The knight leans on his sword, escaping the first kick that follows, but taking the full damage of the second one!

[Ok, horse 5 dies, knight 3’s prone and knight 5 is currently out of reach, since he soft fell to the other side of the mount. They’re acting at the same time as Zyara’s, so I’ll discharge an attack from 3 as if not yet prone in the future. Zyara must move 5’ if she wishes to attack knight 5 – after a simple acrobatics roll, to fight on the same box as a dead horse. Also, please remember to roll the 20% miss chance for the nightmare's cloud, in case you didn't do it yet. You can resolve the remaining attacks and I'll post on a second part, as I resolve enemies' attacks! this way, I think, it'll get more organized for everyone.]

[Also, @KhalessNestor, the smoke leaves the character sickened for 1d6 minutes in case of failure on FORT test. Also, it gives 20 per cent chance of a miss in every attack – please, remember to roll for it. 😊]

OOC: 5-foot step over the horse isn't an issue:
Nimble Moves: You can move across a single obstacle with ease.
Benefit: Whenever you move, you may move through 5 feet of difficult terrain each round as if it were normal terrain. This feat allows you to take a 5-foot step into difficult terrain.


Zyara didn't expect the knight to fall away from her. She'd deal with him later. She strikes the down knight (3) next to her. Once. Twice. But both times the mist causes her to miss her target. In frustration she turns and kills the last nightmare to clear the field.

ENEMIES' TURN


As Zyara kills the nightmare, the beast's breath ceases, and the cloud dissipates slowly. The air around her and Batknight begins to clear, leaving a group of furioius knights behind!

On the other side of the corpse, a knight contemplates the death of his mount, still on his knees.

"CURSES UPON YOU, HUNTRESS!" - he cries out, clenching a furious fist against Zyara. After that, a quick coup-de-main brings a small gem from his glove, which he promptly smashes. "We'll meet again, horse killer!" - with that, the air around the knight motions as his body begins to vanish within a dark blue explosion!

[Knight 5, still prone, breaks the gem and vanishes. Those interested in identifying the spell can roll for it, if they so choose! Daxio identifies the patterns as those of the conjuration school]

As for Zyara's adversary, he continues struggling against her agile strikes. After using the smoke cloud in his favor, he glances at her, still standing. His malevolent glance towards his companions is clear: he does not intend to finish this battle! Almost as if his companion's attitude triggered his own, he boasts one last time, proud and furious. "Such is the way of things... We shall meet some other time, lady warrior! And then we shall bring our differences to an end!" - he gestures as the other had, slipping a gem from his glove and smashing it with a potent twist of his fingers. Dark blue surrounds him, and the winds move the remnant of the dark cloud as his body vanishes within the quick explosion.


[Knight 3 breaks the gem and vanishes. Since it's no potion, no AoO this time. Once more, the conjuration spell springs out of the broken gem! Same applies here: you can identify, and Daxio sees the school of conjuration in action!]


Behind the monk, Batknight and his foe exchange blows, fighting furiously!

"You.... What kind of knight fights without his banners? Identify yourself, you coward!" - the knight charges twice against the Batknight, delivering two powerful blows against his armor and fending the chest and drawing blood!

[Knight 4 attacks Batknight twice. First attack's a miss due to Haste! Second attack (rolls 20 and confirms with 16) is a critical, delivering 8 and 15 points of damage!]

Meanwhile, the sickened Daxio sees himself in between two adversaries. The woman stabs blindly, missing the mage by a large margin, but clearly instigated to draw blood first! The other one charges once more, plunging against the mage and ripping clothes and flesh alike! The beasts agitate their hooves midair, bursting smoke from their lungs continuously!


[Knight 6 misses both attacks on Daxio (under invisibility percentage). Knight 7 strikes twice with his lance. The first attack's a hit (rolls 16) and delivers 15 points of damage; the second attack's also a hit (rolls 11) and delivers 9 points of damage]


At the northern area of the battlefield, another rider charges against Arduniel, as he shields Alice, allowing her to attack unmolested! He stabs quickly, plunging the lance against Arduniel's arms, probably willing to stop his own maneuvers! But as the attacks get more precise, they also pay a heavy price on strength, and the damage he causes falls because of it!


[Knight 2 attacks Arduniel twice with the lance. The first attack's a hit (rolls 5), delivering 15 points of damage. the second attack's also a hit (rolls 19), delivering 8 points of damage.]


Not far beyond, another knight tries to stomp the small Dragon with his lance, plunging and swinging to deliver a blow. He nearly misses the plunge, and swinging to the side right after drawing blood, manages to crush the Dragon against the dirt! The piercing attack leaves a mark, but the crushing of his body does a lot less.


[Knight 1 attacks twice with lance. First attack's a miss due to Smoke Tattoo! Second attack's a hit, delivering 11 points of damage.]

Arduniel speaks a word and suddenly he is not where he was. Right on the heel of his disappearance rain of runes strikes the knight that hurt him.

ARDUNIEL


Arduniel's attack on the knight is painstakingly dodged by the rider as he shambles around on his horse. The weight of his armor clearly doesn't help him!

"Such folly! Your common tricks are no match for the AUTUMN KNIGHTS!" - Arduniel's smart enough to see two of his companions retreating from the field as he boasts on the front line!


[Ok, you can identify anything that goes on. Even with the smoke it's possible to see outside vaguely - although the smoke gets in the way as you attack. I've considered bonuses and the Smoke Tattoo for the attacks against Arduniel.]



BATKNIGHT


Batknight's attacks fall empty as sword and armor interrupt the strikes! Nonetheless, one of the attacks lands a cut on the enemy's flesh, bringing him yet again to another boisterous monologue!

"Common fool! A scratch of no consequence, I assure you! Come, once more, name yourself, so you epitaph might carry the least weight!" - his eyes betray something else beneath the helmet... It is as if he somehow recognized the Darkest Knight's armor, or his own helmet...


[Knight 4 loses 13 hit points. Ok, once more, I've made sure to consider the AC bonus for you as the attacks were delivered! But then again, that crit...]


MOSS

The small Dragon leaps forward, flying and swinging around the proud knight. He feints and cuts, targeting only the vital spots as they appear through the many gestures and incessant dodging attempts! Suddenly, the knight falls from the mount with a heavy thud. The cuts were so precise and quick that he had no chance! His body lays lifeless as the triumphant dragon emerges from the smoke, the nightmare behind him exploding in fire and rage as he bends back to the skies.


[WOW! Nothing more to add! @MetaVoid, Moss' attack comes after Knight 1's according to initiative order. That's why I resolved it first! ;) Next, Aranel and Alice, at the same time as Moss!]

ALICE


The tiefling's limbs move with grace and speed as she plunges forward, dashing through the weak spots of the knight's armor! She manages to draw blood from his knee, denting the armor soon afterwards!


"How so, dark maiden?" - the warrior proclaims as his leg bleeds through the crevices of his armor. "You should fight for your own kind! You should join us, not these feeble cowards!"


[So, the first one hits, the second one doesn't. Knight 2 takes 18 points of damage!]

[So, we still have one action left for Aranel, @ Shayuri. I did consider all modifiers for the fireball, no worries there!
