[IC] Toranthar - Chapter I: Dark Harvest (Full)

"I've never been so glad to see the ugly face of a Balash!," Krik says, grinning. He does his best to one-up Heskrash, slicing at two more of the hatchlings, but only manages to scratch his blades.

"Grrr...."

OOC: Move to P18. Twin strike on two hatchlings misses both

Mask watches the other dwarves tending to the Adversary, then looks at Belleros. Maybe he had a point. Maybe it was better to meet this head on, rather than wait for it to come and find them on its terms.

"All right," she agrees. "Lets go."

She sets out in the direction the humans had gone.

"You know...those humans said something about a prophecy as well. Once we have a chance to breathe, we should bring that up again."

A prophecy? What, that we'll turn into phoenixes and mate? he grins, snarkily. Haha. Hey stay I'll go in front, you stay behind a few steps! he says, passing Mask and advancing quickly, sword in hand.

"A fine story, but impossible," Mask pants as they run after the humans. "Phoenixes don't mate. Each phoenix rises from the ashes of its parent when they self-immolate. The concept of romantic love, or even lust, as we know it would be completely alien to them..."

Her lecture trails off, and she slows to a trot, as the humans and dwarves fighting come into sight.

"What in the name of the thrones are those?"

(OOC - I figure we enter the map in roughly the same place that the humies did, since we were following them)

The Balash who survived the initial onslaught is pressed by the ever-thrashing claws of the kruthik before him. He glances over his shoulder at the new arrivals - reinforcements - and his eyes flicker. Barely keeping his feet, he staggers back and trips, his legs going out from under him.

(You guys waited weeks for that? ;) All right. Let's roll! Map updated. Inits are noted on the left-hand side of the battle map. I took the liberty of rolling inits to get things going again.

Gutwick's up.)

(I haven't seen hafrogman for a bit, so I'm gonna ghost Gutwick for a bit)

Gutwick dodges to and fro, nimbly wending his way bewteen the larger combatants. He draws his short sword as he moves past the kneeling and very bloody Balash. He hops into range of the kruthik near Krik and makes a fierce thrust with the short blade. What was sure to be a killing blow is spoiled as Gutwick's shuffle step forward is thwarted by the still-twitching limbs of the kruthik at his feet. The thrust goes wide and Gutwick barely keeps his feet. To say nothing of his dignity.

(Doh, critical fail. Good thing that's only something academic in 4e. :D )

Lehrik raises his begemmed greatsword and bellows a human warcry. He charges forward in a clashing clangor of human valor. The greatsword's arc sweeps cleanly through the kruthik and the young man's bares his teeth in a feral snarl.

Korask, the crew boss, moves forward and skewers the kruthik next to Krik and Gutwick. He then turns his attention to the churning mass of claws and spikes before him. He takes a deep breath and a cloud of flame engulfs the kruthik swarm. When the cloud clears only one of the kruthik have fallen to Korask's firey breath.

(Heskrash is up. Map updated.)

Heartened by the arrival of reinforcements, Heskrash strides toward the remaining kruthik. With a brief prayer to Bahamut, and a steely glare at the larger insect, he releases a blast of lightning that spreads out to engulf several enemies.
