D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (Infiltrators)

As he grabbed a rest, Sesto sat down and performed a short ritual so that the good Lathander would point out any magical items (or traps!) in the room. Sesto had learnt his lesson and was angered that he had not thought about the ritual before he entered the treasure room so thoughtlessly. Now he looked around the rooms for any magical items.
After scanning the rooms, he sat down and grabbed one of his rations. Soon he felt much better.

Meanwhile, back at the Alchemist, SnorLoska had a well deserved rest. He applied the Burn Salve that he grabbed from the gnome earlier and soon felt much better. He also grabbed a bit to eat but he was not very hungry. The thought of what was ahead of the group scared him. Him! Nothing scared him! But still, there was this unknown feeling that he could not attribute to anything else than a fear of what lies ahead. Still, this fear would keep him on the toes and he would react quicker.
Now, I wonder if the others have found the last idol?

There was much of value in the larger of the two rooms, but most of it was heavy and non-magical. On the other hand, the true vault, where the Idol had been, Lathander's light revealed a magical shield, cloak, sword, ring, and gauntlets on the shelf, each of them hiding a rune-trap hidden on the wall behind them. There was also much in the way of lighter valuables: gems, necklaces, bracelets, and gold and silver bars.

However, Lathander's light also revealed that the acid-trap that Sesto had set off had, and would would constantly, reset itself.

Drako looked into the room peering over the shoulders of the others, he had had a short nap and he could have sworn his master had reached out to him, though he was still trying to fully comprehend his message.

OOC: Is the trap gas based? Do you have to breath it? Because Auraia can hold her breath indefinitely...

Udit frowned

"Uh... I'm sure these would be great vs the dragon, but not if we get burned alive, or cursed or more ghost brigades.... first the acid trap. Can, uh, anyone tell me how it works? I sort of missed it last time ...."

There were multiple traps to contend with. The first one (the one that took out Sesto) consisted of an archway with built-in tube-like designs, covered in little holes. When Sesto had stepped through, the holes had sprayed a caustic acid, which then pooled in a trough on the floor, and was sucked back in through the sides somehow to return to the tubes, ready to spray again. Just how this trap could sense that someone was stepping through was unclear, possibly magical.

The room was full of poisonous gas, that had been conjured by a rune on the back wall. The rune had been hidden behind the Bhaalite Idol, on a shelf, and it had flared when Auraia had taken the statue. The poison lingered still, and Sesto could sense that the other items had similar runes behind them, though he suspected that the nature of each rune was quite probably different than the first. Perhaps one would ignite the room, or send lightning scorching through. It was difficult to tell, as the runes were hidden by the objects they protected, and it was only Lathander's light which made him certain that they were there.

OOC: To be honest, I don't quite know what "Lathander's Light" is actually doing. What ritual did Sesto use?

GM: Holding your breath will give you advantage on the Con Save against the poison, but won't protect you totally (it absorbs through the skin as well). Arcana and Investigation checks might reveal something useful, but both would work better if you could get in there and move stuff around.

After performing the Detect Magic ritual, Sesto saw many magic items in the treasure room but he also saw that they were protected by powerful runes. Exactly what rune, he could not discern. And there was still gas left in the room.
Sesto looked at Udit with sadness. You missed it last time? Pay attention when I walk through the arch way this time. He said, sarcasm dripping from his voice. Obviously, Sesto did not go through the archway...
Anyone, do you have any ideas how to get to the magical items? And after a pause he added: Without getting killed?
If not, I think we better get back to the others. They should also be rested by now. I have a feeling that the dragon is getting more powerful by the minute. We can't waste more time.
We have retrieved the four Bhallite Idols so we should be able to get into the dragons lair.

“I could create a wind to bring all the items to us. Or we could go get my firy brother. He’s good at moving things without touching them.”

Udit nodded

"I *think* I might be able to muck up the acid trap, but the rest... uh... not in these conditions. Sesto is right that time is too short. I think the best idea is mage hand, or some other, uh, tele...kenmaticasisis effect. From faaaar away"
