OOC: Light source?

Zander takes his customary spot in the rear of the group watching it as much as the forefront. He squeezes the javelin in his hand using the slight pain to help keep his hand from shaking.

The alcove itself gave no clue as to which Idol should rest within it, but it was clear that the idol would fit perfectly within the niche.

OOC: Perhaps it would be good to go over the four idols and who carries which. The four idols are, in no particular order: Murder Through Another's Hand (from Silakul's bedside chest), Poison Most Foul (from the bottom of the Hydra's Pool), Foe Rendered Harmless (won from the Troglodytes), and The Unseen Murderer (found in the Treasure Vault). I don't actually know who has what.

Sealed within the lead of the eye carving on the door, Udit discerns the form of a very large (just over a foot in diameter) actual eye. It stared, unblinking, at Mord as he inspected the alcove.

SnorLoska was happy. The rest had done him good. Fully healed after using the alchemist's Burn Salve and Battle Balm. And now, ready for action.

The new sword was awesome! The new shield was good too. It would give him protection from nasty spells. Wow! Look at this, he said to the others and spoke the command word. Flames licked the blade and the room lit up. He swung the sword a few times, narrowly missing Zanders that stood a little too close.

SnorLoska looked on as Udit and Mord inspected the door and the small alcoves. Then he walked up to the door next to Mord and holding up his his own Idol. It was the Poison Most Foul he held in his hand. SnorLoska also tried to figure out if his idol would fit in the alcove. Did the shape look like it fitted his own idol... it was hard to be sure.

I don't know, he said to Mord. Maybe it doesn't matter which one we place there...

OOC: Does anyone have Mage Hand? Everyone steps back and we can use Mage Hand to place one idol in the alcove.

Sesto was standing back watching Udit and Mord at the door, and now SnorLoska was also trying to figure out how to open the door.
I could cast a spell to see what magic is around but I think I rather save my powers for later, Sesto said quietly to nobody in particular.

He pondered... The names of the idol sound like they could be paired up. Let's see... "The Unseen Murderer" fits with "Murder Through Another's Hand" and then "Poison Most Foul" fits with "Foe Rendered Harmless". And if we put all idols in that order we get "The Unseen Murderer Murder Through Another's Hand, Poison Most Foul Foe Rendered Harmless". Hmmm...

"It's a riddle?" Zander asked. "There's a leaded eye carved on the door. This could be The Unseen Murder." he said excitedly.

OOC: Using his Keen Mind to advantage, cuze his INT is a 9

Looking around the room, it was difficult to find a spot to stand where one could see the niche (to mage hand an idol into it) while not being "seen" by the eye. Any of the four Idols would fit into the niche (they were all very close to the same size). Nothing about the niche itself gave any indication of which one it ought to be, if any in particular.

edit: the player has a worse spot check than Udit - rewriting post.

OOC: I'm not sure I actually understand - Udit was able to deduced that the lead was only a thin layer, and there is an actual eye underneath the lead?

Udit nodded to Sesto. "It's a good guess as any. I mean, uh...."

Udit trailed off, looking ahead, jaw opened. After a few moments he muttered "errrrrr.... Wot?" He added : "Uhhhh... guys. Guys! I think there is an *actual* eye hidden by the lead - it's huge! And it's watching you Mord"
