D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (River Gang)

Udit looks at the grass

perception on grey grass: 1D20+3 = [6]+3 = 9

Not nothing anything in particular, he then glances at the Obelisk, trying to see if he can make any sense of it... he wasn't trained in any of these manners, but he had traveled a fair bit

Arcana, History, Religion, in that order, on the obelisk: 1D20 = [2] = 2
1D20 = [7] = 7
1D20 = [11] = 11

"Uh... I'm kinda baffled here. I will use the Sending stone to report to the Wizard"

Udit grasps the sending stone, concentrates on it, and sends his message:

"Udit here. Safe under the mountain. Found red stone obelisk, one side shaped like human, other hollowed out. Arcane markings. Please advise"

Aquaria and Auraia both go to the Obelisk to see what they can figure out.

OOC: They are both skilled in Arcana.

Aquaria: [roll0]
Auraia: [roll1]

"A red stone obelisk, do you say?" says Imani the Sage to Udit, considering.

"Yes," says Darko, circling the dais to see it from all angles, "There's something - I think this would have been used as..."

"A transportation divice!" offer the genasi sisters in unison.

"You activate it here:" says Aquaria, making a motion of putting both hands on the crude hand carvings of the figure; swirling spirals on the palms.

"And then you lie in it, like this:" says Auraia, mimicking stepping backward into the concave coffin-shape, arms tight at your sides.

"And it takes you somewhere else." they say together.

"There should be a number of such things scattered about the area. From what I recall, such things can only be used over short distances." offers Imani, late to the party.

GM: Kurzon could still throw in a Religion check for a bit more info.

OOC: No short rest. The sisters need a long rest to regain their power. They don't need any healing.

Looking at the strange, skull-like face, dull, but carved into the area where the heart of the figure should be, and not it's head - which is faceless (it may once have been painted), Kurzon is certain that these were made by the worshipers of Bhaal, God of Murder (recall that the Idols you seek are also made by Bhaalites, though these are not those).

GM: Anyone want to try and use it? Or circle around the mud-flat to the smaller, cascading waterfall? Or return to one (or the other, I hope you noticed there were two) of the dug channels?

"Filthy Bhaalites!" Kurzon spits as he tells his companions what he knows.

"Shall we explore this area here first before we trust ourselves to that!"

“What’s exploring without the risk?” Drako says as he flashes a wide grin. “Though it would probably be a good idea to check out the surrounding area first.”

Udit nods in agreement

"uh... well yeah, I don't trust that thing either. Let's take a look around. Did I mention that I saw nuts in the south-east passage? Maybe a more... conventional way... up there. Finding a good camping spot would be good too"
