Overcome with curiosity and eager to prove his theory correct, Pyrus performed a mental exercise which allowed him to "see" magical auras. Sure enough, the room was shrouded in Necromantic energy. He was certain they would find undead up there, lingering just out of sight from the grate. Furthermore, he suspected that since he had killed so many men in the room by freezing them to death, that the theme might very well continue in the raised creature's unlife. (A powerful and experienced Necromancer could, in theory, take advantage of a being's type of death when creating undead from a corpse.)

Pyrus tells the others of his theory.

"I could fill the room with fire. Let whatever is in there roadster itself slowly. If they are undead with a penchant for cold, then fire will either do nothing, or everything."

OOC: For 3psi points, I can fill the room with fire, assuming the room is no more than 20 ft across. I can keep my t going for one minute. Anything in there will take 5 points of damage per round. That's 60 points of damage if they don't flee. They're undead, so they may not know to flee.

Thing is, if they're resistant, it still does 30 damage. If they're vulnerable, it'll do 120 damage. To each creature. Seems worth it to try.

OOC: The room above is 35 feet wide and 60 feet long. Nearly everyone here has been in it before. The River Gang attacked guards in the prison from it when they first arrived, the Infiltrators left the wagon (that they used as part of their ruse) there. It was big enough to roll a wagon into next to a pile of crates. More recently, Pyrus froze a bunch of guys in it, and Terrus bisected it with a wall of wood.

All that's gone now (the wagon is still there, just out of sight from the grate). Not much can be seen from the grate. A pile of crates, a few barrels. The grate is in the northwest corner. Still, a fire in the room might distract the guards in the prison long enough to force the prison-grate open. And maybe burn some undead that may be hiding behind crates or the wagon...

Sesto listens to Pyrus and his theory about undead. Undead is certainly something Sesto could handle but is it necessary? Udit, did you say that there was a gate or portcullis between the prison and the storeroom? I'm thinking that if there are undead in the storeroom then the portcullis would be close. The mercenaries are most likely not fond of undead and thus they would keep the portcullis closed as long as possible.
Sesto continues explaining. Leave the undead alone, maybe create a small fire in there with, say, the oil and a candle. A small distraction and the mercenaries maybe goes closer to investigate and won't pay too much attention to the grate in the prison room. Udit can open the grate and one or two of us can get in there before they react.
What do you think? Sesto asks and hopes that the group can save magic and mental powers for a later fight.
We must also stop them from opening the portcullis, Sesto adds.

Kurzon can smell the stench of five undead through the grate. They are about forty feet back (give or take).

Udit knows that the prison grate will take a serious shove (by someone strong) to get open, even after he unlocks it.
