Feh!

When I first role-played, I didn't have any fancy polyhedral dice, chits or FRIENDS!

I had to make up imaginary playmates...and those SOBs cheated! (Wouldn't stay dead when I drew my imaginary bow and arrow and went *twang*...)

And get those kids off my lawn gnomes!

Luxury.

I couldn't even get imaginary friends to play D&D with me, my stepmother was convinced they were demons and wouldn't allow me to play with them.

And there were times that I didn't even have D&D rulebooks, I just had half remembered notes into a notebook that had half the pages torn out for character sheets. My books were turned into confetti if they were found.

You were allowed to play D&D? HAH!

I come from a family in which all 4 of my grandparents were educators (2 grade school, 2 college), my Mom was a HS music teacher in the ghetto, and my Dad was an MD.

I wasn't allowed to bring home D's on anything. The worst I could play without ancestral scorn was B&B...and A+&A+ was the only one they appreciated seeing.
