You should write him and tell him that the crime has already been commited, he's the one with the luck. And whereas the publishers might accept his neglegence as an escuse, Neglegence is not a defense in the eyes of the law.

I think at this point it's probably best to stop contacting him directly. Anything more may be considered harassment.

Somehow, I doubt that he'd level charges at anyone.

When you've made felony-level money from the sale of pirated material, and it's easy to track that you've done so, I suspect that you don't really want to get the authorities involved, ya know?

There are a lot of other sites, not including the ones that you pay 5 bucks and get any piece of information you want. In order to stop it all together yo'd have to stop filing taxes. I was a journalist for 6 years and the internet is our best friend when we're trying to find someone's information. We used to say give me a couple hours and a computer and i can have contact information for someone and every immiediate family member, children included.

I have only sent 1 email. Even 10 emails would not corespond to harrassment, unless they were overtly threatening (usually in the physical way). Letting someone know that the authorities have been alerted could in no way be considered harrassment.

Somehow, I do not think this individual is going to stop now... after all he has made substantial money selling this material. He will likely just create a new account and start over.

Yeah, for someone just trying to make his money back he's sold a lot of illegal CDs.
