Heh, you missed the point. I'm not defending the pirates, I'm simply stating that the reasons that a person could have for purchasing a pirated copy of something may, in fact, be legitimate.

Yeah, it sucks. But the burgoise and the proletariat (man, did I butcher those spellings or what?) are always going to have a differing outlook. In my experience the Poor generally say: "Why won't you help me? You have money, give some to me." While the Rich say: "I worked hard to get where I am today. Why should I give you anything?"

And yes, there are simply people who can afford a product, but won't purchase said product if a cheaper alternative exists. Piracy hurts the publisher/author only in this circumstance. The big question is, of all the people who purchase pirated products, how many fit into this catagory?
Personally I hate anyone who profits off of these things. I download music, games and WOTC books but you cross the line when you sell them. iN all honestly any half-witz capable hacker/pirate can easily download all that stuff for free if they put some effort into it. When you start bartering this stuff it brings unwanted attention to the pro file sharers and it gives adamant reason for people to hate file sharing.

If you are a legit author of one of something listed, please submit proof and verification of identity and I will remove it.

Proove your identity to him with a baseball bat. That's my advice.

Here's the latest:

My e-mail: This is no longer my problem. It has been determined that you are stealing not only the PDFs/products in the item # above but are also offering other disks of
stolen material. You have been reported and the proper authorities are now dealing with your theft of copyrighted material.

His response: That's fine if you want to be a stubborn Ass about it. I only wanted to make one damn sale to get my money back, but people like you have to go and be a hostile threatening dick about it. So maybe if I'm going to be called a thief and prosecuted like one I should actually do something. Like make everything available to everyone free of charge. Or at least tell everyone how to obtain everything for free. You don't know anything about what I do or do not have the ability or permission:)to do with anything other than your stuff. So stop deluding yourself. And to think all you had to do was ask nicely.

Wow, ebay is very difficult to reach by phone and the first few tries connected me to voice mail systems that hungup.

I've now talked with a person and been told they would get to this in 24-48 hours. Which is after the auction ends.

Interesting.

First of all, I'm sort of pro-file sharing. I think it's wrong to make a living of others work, that is sell or otherwise make money of downloaded material, but but I don't think it's wrong when I for example download TV-series episodes before (_if_) they are aired where I live (Sweden). For example, the show Numb3rs. Seemed to be an interesting show so I downloaded the first few episodes. I liked it, called one of our larger TV channels... and now they show it here too. Another example, I'm pretty ashamed of this, is Lord of the Rings. I hadn't read the book, downloaded FoTR... Now I own the three EE DVD:s, two versions of the book series, one of them leather bound, and a couple of history books such as Silmarillion and The Complete Guide To Middle-Earth. :)

And before you call me a cheap :):):):) I bought 5 DVD:s and 1 computer game this month, and that's not a rare occasion.

My point? Nothing is black and white. Not even "piracy".
