Immortals Handbook - Ascension Discussion

Hi Davus! :)

Ok, that probably would work for weapons and armours, but what about other items like say cloaks and rings? How would we factor in the divine ability?

Figure out the closest bonus in terms of GP value and then add the ability? That works if you have other stuff on there, but what if there's only divine ability combinations?

The quickest way, as you note, would seem to be convert the item cost into a plus (rounding fractions up of course).

If there are only divine ability combinations then simply total the pluses concerned.

Hey all!

Okay, I think my website is down, and possibly staying down (until I find a new webspace provider).

Basically my initial provider company folded 18 months ago, a takeover company contacted me 6 months later and I started paying them. However, they have not got back to me in a year, so I basically haven't heard anything from them since the first payment. I have tried emailing them tons of times to no avail. I was wondering when my luck would give in and it seems like about now.

I'll see about contacting a new provider over the next day or two.

Edit: Weirdly it seems back again. Hurrah!

Hey U_K, I'm going to go stat the tetrad Tetragrammaton, the ogdoad Domodon-Doxomedon, and if I'm really up to challenging the Mortiverse, the 72-lord Logos. Would you like to request any particular HD for each of them? I was thinking of using prime numbers to make them immune (for now) to Thelemic [Effect], but then again, there are too many prime numbers to choose from.

Hey Adslahnit dude! :)

Tetragrammaton = 3996 HD
Domodon-Doxomedon = 7992 HD
Mortiverse = 71928 HD

The prime number idea is cool - try and find ones as close to my numbers as possible. ;)

The Prime Number idea is seriously, seriously cool. Honestly, being able to scale down your hit dice in order to reach the closest prime number is... a potentially very interesting ability.

Ahh, but thats not really a useful benefit; The most powerful Thelemic Effects kill on multiples of 2, so all an attacker needs is to zap you with level drain/HD annihilation by an odd amount. (one point 'll do)

At which point you respond by draining yourself of an additional level.

I'd rather spend my action blasting my foe into oblivion with Atomic Eye-Rays then level draining myself. Seems a bit more effective that way. :P (a humorous downward spiral of one deity level draining another, who is in fact level draining himself, hardly seems sensible)
Although, said tactic (Level Drain + Thelemic Effect or Level Drain vs Thelemic Effect) favors the side with the most characters who can level drain. (Or with the most actions; this usually favors the PCs, but not all the PCs are likely to have level drain while a group of enemies may be thematically linked by it)
It should also be noted that by the time someone has the Perfect Thelemic Touch (although mastery is MUCH more fun :P) their fellow immortals are close to, or may even possess, Transient powers, like Astro Effect, which may or may not kill you no matter what your HD is! (Or Omega Effect: The ultimate worse-than-death ray)

Wait, how does Perfect Thelemic Touch kill on a multiple of 2? 8-3=5. Are you assuming with 4 rounds of Telluric Effect or a natural 20 on the Quantum Effect to get it to a 2? Or am I missing something?
