Indestructible Weapon

Paragon

Wielder of the Power Cosmic
I need some input, I want to make an enchantment for weapons that makes them indestructable/unbreakable. nothing else. no bonus to sunder or anything, just indestructable. what kind of +/ in the market value + do you thing this would be?
In reality it's a cool ability but not as handy as keen or speed or something.

thoughts? ideas?

thanks!

Indestructable? I'd say that's a quality of artifacts and demi-artifacts (and possibly some Intelligent weapons).

I'd tone it down to "Self Repairing" at +1.

I believe it's in his contract.

To answer the original question, I'd rate 'indestructable' as a +2 bonus, personally. I'd also add "except to disintegration" to the description.

Personally I dont like 'completely indestructable' so I would go more for something like:

+1 enchantment (or, better yet, 20k gp): +10 hardness, +25hp, +3 to all saves, regens 1hp/turn*. This enchantment may be taken up to 5 times.

An adamantine weapon +5 with 5 of these enchantments would need an act of god to kill it ;) (or a high level psion with a lot of time)

*yes, per turn! (for those not in the know, that is 10 minutes).

Indestructible? Wouldn't you have to make the weapon immune to some magical effects (e.g.: Disintegrate, Polymorph Any Object, Epic spells) and energy attacks (e.g.: acid) as well?

It somewhat reminds me of the old philisophy question: "An unstoppable cannon ball hits an immuable and indestructible post. What happens?" :)

Well, I don't see how an indestructible weapon could unbalance a campaign, but I have to admit that dieties who could level a continent with the wave of their hand would be very vexed if they couldn't break a simple weapon.

I do remember a module where anyone entering a room was crushed by the ceiling (if they failed their save). Now, enter with an indestructible weapon held up vertically, and you have some interesting things happen...

So I'd have to agree to the "priceless artifact" opinion...

I think it is probably worth noting that in a case with the dropping ceiling, the indestructable weapon would probably punch a rather small hole through the ceiling or floor, now as the to the rest of the room... :]

Did I mention that the ceiling was indestructible as well? ;)

Make it unstoppable, and there you have that philosophy question again. :D

The universe might explode, or something. Or perhaps it's the fundamentals of the Improbability Drive (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)...
