Invasion of Mori - IC [3.5][CE/NE][planar]

Roillard sighs, then snaps his fingers. Within minutes, other robed acolytes arrive to tend to the party's wounds. "I have already had maps made. I always did intend to go in and expunge all life from their miserable little camp, but other things kept turning up."

Meanwhile, the kobold has reached a state of thoroughly irrational panic, and begins gibbering nonsense about reputed hexes shamans are capable of, odd ritual practices the tribe endures, and how the position of the mages' tents is favorably aligned with the stars and the moons.

OOC: All hit points are cured. Ailments are not (con damage, etc.)

Gabriel, Vedak, and Arxas:

The Festering Realms was once a land known as Al-Enuin. It was a golden paradise of scholars and magic, where Cela, the Arbiter of Magic, poured her blessings on the land. However, the increased use of magic and experimentation eventually came with a deadly cost - tears in the fabric of the plane, localized around the area which would eventually become the Festering Realms. Strange creatures started appearing; monsters would come out of nowhere, maul townsfolk, and then vanish. The mages fought valiantly, but ultimately the land itself was engulfed in darkness. Now the land is home to all manner of aberrations and undead.

Or so the tales say. There are certainly aberrations and undead in the Festering Realms. More curious is the fact that the ruler, Beltharus, bears the same name as all previous rulers have. Which number he is is a detail no one agrees on, but there seems to have been an unbroken chain of Beltharuses ruling over the land since the end of the golden days thousands of years ago.

"About blasted time," Rose mutters under his breath as he gets healed. The tiefling then looks around at the others in the party to see how things will play out, especially since the group's composition has so quickly changed.

"Maps! Finally a bit of good news. Since one of our first priorities as I understand it is to procure treasures, I suggest we kill two archons with one bolt. Plan and execute an attack on these kobolds, both to take their lucre...which if they've attained this much power must be extensive...as well as to send a gentle reminder that the Abyss is not to be trifled with."

Silhouette pauses, then adds, "As well as to shut their yapping mouths, before they sell the information they've gained to the wrong ears."

"Morever, I think this attack should be carried out as soon as possible. Those sorcerors have expended considerable spellpower here. We have, conversely, not. If we can strike before they've regained their power, then the balance is shifted in our favor."

She looks around, gauging reactions. "Thoughts?"

The mage ignores the acolytes as they tend his wounds with incantations, and instead mentally reviews his still-potent arsenal of spells. "I concur," states the tiefling mage. "Their leader has not shown us his full power, by my estimate, but both he and and his minions have expended resources. If we cannot defeat this arcanist today, surely we can leave the marks of the Abyss on his stronghold," he says, showing a rare smile at the thought of what opportunities to cast his most powerful spells might await.

And if the worm... trims the fat from our motley band, it is but one fewer hand reaching for the spoils.

"Good to know that some of us here are willing to use actions, not mere words," Rose snidely remarks with a glance at Gabriel. "Let's not waste time."

"That should do splendidly... Snarrek, do you have room for the rat in your stomach? His squealing annoys me..." Gabriel says the first to the others, and the second to the troll. "And if you care to linger a tad closer to my humble self, I shall help enhance your already impressive combat prowess. And that goes for the rest of you as well. Listen to my words, and you may find them... uplifting."

With that, Gabriel straightens his clothes, brushes off the ashes, despairs about getting the soot out of his shirt, and is ready to go.

Silhouette nods and says, "I think our best bet would be to use the map to approach to the point where we can scry their camp magically and find a weak point. Then we can teleport in en masse, take them by surprise, and ideally gut any chance of resistance they have. Then it will be essentially us versus the worm...which is still dangerous, but as good a scenario as we can hope to get."
