Is'Merith - Campaign Thread

As the final goblin fell, Daedarai frantically took stock. A brief wave of panic started crawling up as he couldn't spot Shen. Hearing her call out calmed him down. Everyone was alive. He took a moment in the shadows to focus on his breathing and steady himself. He needed to keep it together and figure out the next move.

The battle was quick, but those goblins still showed some peculiar traits. They were after blood. It seemed like a drug to them. If nothing else, he was confident that he made the right call striking first even if he hadn't thought it through. Whatever those things were, they were never going to let his group walk past unmolested. Shen was right. They needed to understand what they were dealing with.

“I'm sorry,' he said softly as he stepped out from hiding. “I thought they were just a story.” He knelt beside one of the goblins that he shot and started prying the arrow loose. He tapped on the shovel like bits on the end of their arms, “Shen, what do you see with these weapons? Are they natural or some kind of gauntlet?” He was curious about the creatures, but Shen had more experience in that arena. It might be worthwhile to look over the bodies and the stash that Shen had found though for anything worthwhile. The creatures had some manner of intelligence so they might be holding something to help make up for this trouble.

[SBLOCK=Rolls]Investigation check for loot: 1D20+4 = [1]+4 = 5 I was going to try and see if I could use investigation to look over things carefully instead of perception, but that roll doesn't matter either way. Anyone else care to find some loot for us?[/SBLOCK]

Once the battle was over, Mina stepped back away from the group- not too far, just a little bit back (and maybe around a corner if one was convenient). Then, with a moment's privacy, she was (rather quietly) sick. After a moment or two (and a quick dose of Prestidigitation) she stepped back into view- wide-eyed, pale, and shaken, but ready to move on. "I don't know how long we should linger. These creatures might have friends nearby..."

Alejandro catches the potion.

The bottle is greasy to touch, with sand crusted to the body. He uncorks it and sniffs.

"Cherries", he announces, and sniffs again. "And charcoal."

He holds it up to his eyeline. It is red and cloudy.

"Well, if he was trying to drink it after getting pitch forked by the gymnast over there, this'll be a healing potion, I reckon. Either that or it teleports you home to your mum."

He looks around his companions and shrugs, making the wound in his neck gape and seep blood again as he does so. He is back to his normal happy-go-lucky gnome self again, and seems to have shrunk somehow. His youthful apple red cheeks are at odds with the snarling battle-hardened fighter everyone just witnessed.

He smiles at the half-elf, all sunlight and warmth.

"No problem. Just remember to poke with the pointy bit."

Archie scurries out from his place in Alejandro's pocket and sits on his injured shoulder, whiskers twitching, squeaking rapidly. Alejandro smiles and raises a hand to the mouse, stroking him gently, squeaking back at him.

[sblock=Mouse talk]
Archie: Ow. That looks bad, Al. Are you ok? Al? You're bleeding. That's really gross. (a pause) Can I lick it?
Alejandro: Heh. I'm just fine, little one, don't worry...and, I'd rather you didn't.[/sblock]

"So, Isaac. How you feeling? Want to try it, or leave it to me?"

[sblock=Comparing scars] My max hp is 21, and I'm on 13 now. I took 8 pts of damage but without Rage (I have one left until a long rest), it'd have been 17 or 18. I'll happily chug it down unless you're in more of a state than me.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] I'm not quite sure how second wind works, is it like half hp I regain? [/sblock]
[sblock=Second Wind] You have a limited well of stamina that you can draw on to protect yourself from harm. On your turn, you can use a bonus action to regain hit points equal to 1d10 + your fighter level. You regain the ability to do this after a short or a long rest[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] I'm going to use my second wind now.
_: 1D10+1 = [1]+1 = 2

Well I managed to regain 2 whole hp[/sblock]

[sblock="OOC"]That's three]l whole HP, you lucky duck, you're level 2.

I heal extra well on short rest because of my funny hit dice, so I'm not worried about the potion either.[/sblock]

"Oh yeah," Shen returns absent-mind rely. She'd forgotten the weird hands. Those probably weren't natural. That's why he's the boss, though.

[sblock="OOC"]As did I forget them.

Second Wind is d10+level, so 1+2 for you. Also, Action Surge lets you take 2 actions on the turn you use it, and also charges on a short rest, so feel free to abuse that, too. 5e combats are typically not much more than 3 rounds long, which flies by considering how quick each turn is over. Nice thing about being a fighter is that you're good as new after every short rest.[/sblock]

Much like a turtle buries it's eggs in a sandy beach, the loot from these goblins runs deep. At least 2feet down in this nest is layer after layer of clothing, leather armor, humanoid bones, sacks of coin, a couple of peices of armor and weapons.

A couple of items of particular note appear at the very base. A piece of studded leather with thieves guild markings is wrapped around the spinal column and skull of some poor sap long dead. Half-Orc it seems with a gold tusk and 3 teeth replaced with gold. The studded leather appears to be immacute. . Also found in an ornate scabbard is an elven shortsword of exquisite beauty. A leather belt attached contains a pouch with thieves tools and a poisoners kit.

In the sack the goblin had drawn the vial with red liquid from is another vial that looks the same, then a vial of clear liquid and two more that look clear with a tint of yellow. In total, everyone throws gold and silver coins into a sack, which ends up weighing about 5lb, but it will have to be counted later.

Remaining items of possible use include breastplate, a chain shirt and some Badly damaged half-plate that's separated down the middle. Also 2 shields, one of which is badly broken, but appears to be exotic with a tribal look to it and an unusual balance. It has a set of nasty looking spikes attached to it.

[sblock=Macv12 and Pathfinder] Please have Shen make a survival role, then a knowledge nature. If Mina comes to assist with her knowledge, medicine, Shen can have advantage on her knowledge nature roll.[/sblock]
