Is'Merith - Campaign Thread

[SBLOCK=OOC]Well, that's terrifying. I want to make sure that I'm reading this right. We've got one magic goblin that seems to have a mirror image like effect and three other goblins (all of which are enlarged) confronting the ranged group, but the horde that was about to attack us is delayed so Isaac, Al, and Mina will be able to move towards us? I already thought this was going to be a nasty fight before crimson McMagic pants showed up. Still, if the magic goblin is throwing around that much magic, he's the chief danger, right? He's casting two spells per round so I'm going to focus my fire on him and hope to either get lucky or wear down his defenses.[/SBLOCK]
Daedarai’s feet froze as the tiny goblin grew before his eyes. The goblin’s muscles inflated as its limbs grotesquely stretched. Its teeth seemed to grow faster than its jaw could keep up as a guttural bark echoed from its throat growing deeper as the transformation washed over it. In a moment, the massive goblin towered over the elf and swiftly closed in on him. In the chaos of the moment, he saw streaks of light cast out from the repeating red goblin. “Magic!” his thoughts flashed, “No one mentioned these blighters could cast magic!”

The towering goblin let loose a deep growl that grew into a roar that brought his attention back to the danger in front of him as the beast raised its bladed fists over its head and brought them crashing down towards him. Instinct met a rush of adrenaline as Daedarai narrowly dodged the hulk’s blow so closely that he could hear the rush of wind as it passed him. Taking advantage of the goblin’s mighty blow, he dropped into a crouch before springing towards the goblin pushing his shoulder into the creature’s exposed side to throw it off balance as he pounced quickly away and began to move to line up his shot on the goblin shaman.

“I need to get some magic,” he muttered as he tried to figure out which image was real and fired.

[SBLOCK=Game Rolls]Bonus action to disengage (that’s the shove), move back ten feet and fire on the goblin mage.
Attack Roll on Magic Goblin: 1D20+5 = [13]+5 = 18
Damage Roll if hits through Mirror Image: 1D6+3 = [3]+3 = 6
Roll to see if it strikes a duplicate or McMagic himself - to save DM time, feel free to discard: 1D20 = [19] = 19
Well, if you use that roll, that’s one less illusion. I’ll get you next time, McMagic![/SBLOCK]

I am all for Shen's Fastball Special idea, if we can do that. Please please please.

If not, Al - thank you, by the way, for using the correct gnomish diminutive of Han - will run up to either the big one or the Mage and beat the ever living crap out of him with a mighty roll of...

_: 1D20+2+2 = [14]+2+2 = 18

...doing damage if it's a hit of...

_: 1D8+2+2 = [4]+2+2 = 8

Let me know what I'd need to roll to hit if I'm a Fastball Special, and what damage I'd do...[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I am a RAW DM. I see nothing in the rules preventing the use of a gnome as an improvised weapon and given that Shen has a strength good enough to wear platemail, I'm quite satisfied that she'd be able to do so. Shen seems to be fond of improvised weapon usage. Wonder if she'll take it as a feat eventually.

ALSO, Daedarai, the mage only increased the size of two goblins, then cast what you would know out of game to be magic missile at an unnaturally QUICKENED speed (Clue out of game eh? EH?) Enlarging 3 at once would not be possible unless I were hacking things as a DM. I prefer to avoid that, except in the creation of custom creatures in the first place.

Given that Shen and Al have made their attack roles and that everyone acts before the goblins, I'm going to resolve the next bit right now.
[/sblock]

Shen whips back and calls to Alejandro "Get ready Han!" Moving back from the goblin, it reacts and bears down on Shen, slicing into her back with a big gash. [sblock=OOC] _: 1D20+2 = [19]+2 = 212D4+2 = [4, 1]+2 = 7 down to 12 hp now I think if I'm right?[/sblock] Gritting her teeth and giving The Halfling a brave smile, she yells out "I'll be fine, break magic Gobbos nuts for me"!

Angrier than ever, Al runs over to Shen who is in a kneeling position, her hands interlocked on the ground, he uses his momentum to step onto the improvised launch pad and springs forward. Shen simontaneously hurls the angry gnome with all her might as she runs forward, the 4spellcasters' evil grin suddenly turning into a frown, then a look of sheer terror as the gnome strikes him [sblock=Mirror image]_: 1D20 = [13] = 13
[/sblock], destroying one of the creatures in a small burst of light!

Just as this happens, Daedarai steps away from his attacker and fires at the mage, destroying yet another image!

Alejandro, wastes no time in swinging his flail at the caster[sblock=OOC]_: 1D20 = [10] = 10
[/sblock], but rather than dispersing the illusion, the testiculator strikes true, right between the legs of the mage, which cries out in desperation as it tries to maintain its spell, barely! [sblock=Concentration]_: 1D20+1 = [9]+1 = 10[/sblock]. It looked pretty mad as it prepared again to cast directly at Alejandro...

However, NOT before Isaac and Mina make their moves as well! [sblock]whose plans of action I eagerly await![/sblock]

[sblock="OOC"]I'd love more ally turns, but am I correct that Daedarai already acted this round? He poofed one of the McMagiclones.

And yes, 12 HP. I've been updating my character sheet post, as well. If only that inspiration worked for AC.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]. Oh, so he did. I'll progress it then. I missed that and given the relevance of such a roll, if Daedarai had gone first, then Alejandros hit would have gotten through at a roll of 10 (11 required). This could also result in a loss of concentration by the caster. Given the danger you're all in, I'll correct my previous post. Sorry about the error. Daedarai, that one less mirror image WAS relevant after all.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] sorry I've been missing for a bit, I had some internet issues but now I'm back. I just want to make sure, there is still a goblin attacking me right? [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC - Trogdor]Nah, you're not currently being attacked, so you're free to progress away from the 12 goblins that are chasing you. Don't get me wrong, goblins want to eat you, especially because you're a halfling and generally goblins would expect soft, tender flesh , though Isaac is all muscle.

You're free to move up to your 25ft and throw a javelin or something? You can get your two attacks in if you throw one of your melee weapons as an improvised weapon for 1d4 damage at -2 to hit and then draw and throw a javelin.

The other thing you could do is declare your 'action surge', then use your extra action to run up to Melee range and get your two attacks in against the mage![/sblock]

Mina continued to try to catch up to most of the others. As she made her way forward, she seemed to remember that she had her bow, after all, and an arrow sang out towards the goblin wizard. But would it strike true, or simply sail into the night?

[sblock= OOC] Move forward 10 feet or so, use action for short bow attack against wizard, move her remaining 20 feet, so she is just about caught up with the front group (for now), staying behind the front line (and out of easy reach for the enlarged goblins). Attack 1d20+5= 24, base damage if it actually hits 1d6+3= 6, plus sneak attack since Al is in melee, 1d6= 5; rolls http://www.coyotecode.net/roll/lookup.php?rollid=104776 [/sblock]

Isaac, seeing the threat the mage poses, runs up to try and cut down the creature, at any cost, even should he not make it he knows his allies' escape will be much easier without this one tailing them. "Al, save yourself! Not all of us need perish here today!" He yells before swinging on the mage with his blades.

[sblock=Rolls]
Attack 1: _: 1D20+2 = [10]+2 = 12

Damage 1: _: 1D6+2 = [3]+2 = 5

Attack 2: _: 1D20+2 = [2]+2 = 4

Damage 2: _: 1D6+2 = [6]+2 = 8

If need be I use my action surge. [/sblock]
