Item Creation question (price this)

A player of mine wants to have a "Circlet of Healing" made. Basically, it can cast Cure Light Wounds 3/day. The character is a monk, so he's not a divine spellcaster himself. How much should this cost?

I'll assume command-word activation. Following the pricing guidelines, that would be 1,080gp (1 x 1 x 1,800 / 5 x 3) for 1d8+1 points of healing 3 times per day. Three cure light potions at caster level 1 would cost 150gp (50 gp each). I think that's a fair price.

Cool! You have a "what **** said" flag too!

3000 = 15 (imagination bonus)*10 (Cookie monster bonus)*10(Snuffleufugus bonus)*10(The count to 12 song bonus) * 2 (Because its an unslotted item.)

My gut says that while 1,080 is correct, it seems too cheap. Partly because it's non-expendable, and partly because unlike a potion, I don't believe that this would invoke an AOO like a potion would.

In defense of the cheaper price however is the fact that it's only a CLW. In a few levels a CLW won't be enough to really make a difference.

Above the lowest levels, it's seldom worth giving up an action to take a CLW. I'd guess this item will usually not be used during combat.

For items with instantaneous effect that are mostly used outside combat, I charge as for a slotless item. When not marking rounds, it takes trivial time to swap one item for another; the character could carry a dozen Circlets Of Healing and get nearly the full benefit from all of them.

So I'd use kreynolds's price, and double it for slotlessness. Then I'd probably round down, because the item is slightly less flexible than a truly slotless one, and because I like multiples of one thousand.

Call it 2000 gp even.
