Jungle Deeps and Ocean Depths

Taesshan cuts in smoothly, "Not for him, but for me. I am accustomed to much colder weather, and I'm sure you've noticed I prefer heavy cloaks and robes. That will be nothing but a hindrance in the jungle, and it's very uncomfortable besides. I was hoping to purchase some of the light silk or cotton that seems more common here."

In responce to the young dwarf's recommendations, "Thank you kinds sir, I believe that the Rainbow Bird would suit us well. And if I might say your wife does an excellent job on your tailoring."

As Taesshan answers Winter's question, Undinar nods to the two of them and then turns his attention back to the street. He is curious to see if there is a city guard of any type wandering through the market that he might inquire after the local laws and customs regarding bearing weapons.

*Undinar, the younger dwarf beems with pride at your comment.*

"Quite glad to be of service sir. And did I hear your friend call you Prince? Surely you have need of some of these fine stones. We have some very beautiful emeralds and water opals that would make a most impressive necklace or torque or even a cloak clasp. One could also make a very elegant signet ring," he says smiling and bending over a case and geasturing to the indicated stones.

*Undinar, every few minutes or so a pair of guards in scarlet uniforms with elephant-hide breastplates circulate the market. They openly bear iron-bound clubs, and they have bolas at their belts.*

*Winter, Master Jeweler Ultharis Goldfire gives you a broad grin, revealing that all of his teeth are gold.*

"From Waterdeep! My day is indeed looking well. Well then, tell me your name, cast your spells, and we can set up a time to meet later tonight and discuss this over supper."

*Winter, as you detect magic, the purple gem lights up strongly, showing magic of abjuration, tranmutation, and conjuration. The others are unmagical.*

*Morrin, the cases on your side of the tent seem to be mostly opals, white opals, black opals, blue opals, water opals, fire opals, rainbow opals, and others. They range from the size of a human thumbtip to tiny beads no larger than the head of a needle.*

*Whisper, as you circulate the marketplace, looking for something to amuse yourself with, you get many less strange looks than normal. There seems to be enough lizardfolk in the city that people seem to take you for one of those, albeit a slightly different type.*

*At one end of the marketplace, closer to the warf, a group of halfing acrobats are entertaining a crowd. They are dressed in outlandishly bright colors of purple and red, all tightly cut to their bodies. They backflip, cartwheel, and leap over, around, and on top of one another. They create a pyramid of their very bodies, then fling themselves off in a dozen directions, some of them going into the crowd.*

*After a few seconds the missing halflings return, a few of the watchers in tow. You feel a light touch on your hand, and look down to see a female halfling acrobat next to you.*

"Would you like to be part of the show? It'd be easy, we're going to jump right over you, all you have to do is stand, everybody will love it!"

A mixed smell of ham and lemons wafts off the saurial as he considers. Unable to resist the temptation, Whisper nods and the corners of his mouth raise in what may pass for a smile.

His time with the bandits causes him to be wary, however. Halflings were always known for their tricks and he would hate to find himself lighter one gold pouch at the end of the show...

*The halflings arrange the half-dozen participating spectators by height, and you find yourself in the middle Whisper. Six of the acrobats arrange themselves into a pyramid, and the others run up it like a flight of stairs and fling themselves into the air. Amazingly they clear all six people... though your hat is whisked off your head and onto the head of one of the acrobats. The halfling jumper grins at you cheekily and presents your hat back to you with a bow as the crowd claps and tosses coins to the performers.*

*That appears to be the end of the show and the crowd slowly disperses. However, two of the acrobats seem to be in serious conversation as soon as the show is over, after a minute, one of them comes over to you.*

"Kibbi has a bet here with me and I was hoping you could settle it. Are you a lizardman?" one of them asks, a halfling man with short brown hair and bright blue eyes. A red-haired halfing woman stands just behind him.

*Undinar smiles at having his compliment so well received. He looks over the gems and says, "Indeed, my name is Prince Undinar Deptholas, a prince of the depths. I do like the look of some of those gems that you have there, perhaps another time. I am sure that we will be in Mezro for a while and I will remember your shop."

Whisper thoroughly enjoys the show and doesn't mind his hat being taken one bit. He claps just as cheerily as the rest of the crowd and participants and presents the halfling who approaches him with an outstretched hand containing a gold piece.

In response to the question, he can only shake his head and try not to look offended.

*The halfling woman, Kibbi you assume, smiles.*

"I grew up in the Dalelands, so I've seen your people now and again. Seems a number of them end up down here, I've seen one or two around last month. Passing through I think they said, explorer-types they were. Searching for some... what was it? Sacred water, sacred animal, blessed vine or something, some kind of religious thing."
