D&D 5E Kara Tur vs Tarkir vs Kamigawa vs Plane of Mountains and Seas vs Ikoria

You and folks like you think everything is cringey.

Anyways the time jump and sundering and spellplague gives an opening to fix the setting up and polishing it. They are hiring cultural consultants, perhaps even writers some of whom are likely to be Asian, so that should resolve that issue, enough to get the Wokefolks seal of approval.

The video did bring up the interesting point that some parts of the 3rd edition version (wonton font, the sexy sohei) were actually worse than the original. So if even after 16 years things hadnt improved in 2001 why should there be confidence it will improve now?

3E wasn't all that much of an improvement, unfortunately.

Using terms like "wokefolk" is clearly against the rules. Your warnings for similar things are starting to mount up, @gyor. [color]

probably safely assume the percentage of D&D players who both know what Kara Tur is and are excited to have a 5E version in the single digits.

Let me correct that "the percentage of D&D players who both know what Kara Tur is and are excited to have a 5E version have stopped supporting WoC and have been using and buying pathfinder since release of 4e or just manually play 3.5 or on roll20"

Honestly ... just in this forum alone there are more than single digits wanting OE information or trying to homebrew to fill the gap. Not wanting to start an edition war, after all different strokes for different folks.
I play Eclipse Phase, Gurps, Warhammer and Shadowrun still. I also play MTG now and then, still haven't quite slid into the online version yet. Been living in podunkatory for last 6 years, first nowheresville NC, now in AZ I live literally in a VILLAGE according to census... so looking heavier into online options for our group to stay in touch.
Can't deny the fact that it is easier to say "play what you want to play" or "who cares about version X edition Y" when your version/favorite setting is supported and their version is not. To the suffering it comes off as "Let them eat cake" :C
I think 4e is an abomination, yet would not like it deleted entirely from world since others that started with it still like it. Plus if not for 4e how would pathfinder have climbed from just another side flavor to a main dish?
Me, I wouldn't touch someone else's barge pole of 4e, even if to escape a pool of acid

Reason I'm looking for options, info, and joining forums that have good D&D tips, is I am in three 5e campaign settings and though originally dragged in kicking and screaming like a cat put in the bathtub; I am am enjoying them as opposed to the knee-jerk, vomiting blood reaction my friends and I had to 4e. I am enjoying them as alternate entertainment from 3.5 and Pathfinder main campaigns. Faerun is my favorite D&D setting from day one (and my favorite places there are the southern Sword Coast and Kara Tur)
However, the reason I won't subscribe or GM or buy pdf on D&D Beyond is it is 5e content only and willing to add mostly irrelevant garbage like Sid&Marty(imo), before even cheaply and simply updating classic settings/races to 5e. This is just my groups experience whom ( at least 35 people in my direct contact that still played even after our parents were not providing for us..lel. We even taught our kids and Gr kids) loved OE and Kara-Tur despite the clunkiness of Honor system and the melted vanilla treatment of folklore races).
Back to thread topic......................
The Avernus module resurrected a few lost things (like Tressym beast) and Zhentish faction resurrected by having NPCs here and there..so we can hope..
and even now in 5e there are Kara Tur expatriates all over Faerun, especially the Shou nationality and hengeyokai mentions..
  • so what happened to their homeland in Second Sundering?
  • To the Spelljammer fleet (it had problems during spellplague?)?
  • The Gate that is there?
  • The celestial bureaucracy members Ao slapped down into physical avatars in Faerun to reflect?
Kara-Tur on a whole came away pretty good both in mentions and 4e to 5e maps after the spellplague, and was not affected much with second sundering unlike Maztica that had whole island continent replaced/displaced by land formerly in Aebril, then returned @_@ .?
I won't make this longer...lol

Post may be little offtime because I had to help neighbor jumpstart car ...

I got a warning so I'm bowing out of this thread, I shouldn't have allowed myself to be provoked into coming back. I'm not responding to replies in this thread any more so please don't reply to my posts.

One of the people you completely dismissed as irrelevant is literally a freelancer that WotC has hired for cultural consulation.

The Moonshae Isles are a fantasy version of the British Isles
Currently playing my male character is a half elf from a Llewyrr elf and a Shou expatriate who was importable . I dig Welsh vibe ..even my birth name was Welsh. ^_^

Back to subject I think KT should be released back to it's native territory. I don't have a big opinion on Kamigawa since I didn't buy those modules and stopped actively playing MtG. they were intriguing, but what makes a great face paced stats card backed by neat but shallow lore may not translate well to a role played character (but I was still spending considerable amounts on Hardcovers and Models for D&D /Warhammer and competing in Mtn Bike racing when it came out and grabbed some popularity).

Is it this one?

Interesting though I would like to see something like this by 'native' nationals. and in contexts. These guys are canooks. I barely empathize/understand with canadians of caucasian heritage LOL. (though I have never met a mean canadian except around Quebec..but those are of same types that pulled scholarship from french national because she didn't speak good french <_< ) This would be like me claiming to know everything that Cherokee think because I'm blood quantum 1/4. . Plus they even interpreted the grammatically correct He as meaning only a male in reference. 9_9 And applying to many laws/ethic of 20th/21st century instead of the reflected onto a ''fantasy'' setting that is basically 5th to 15th century... Plus more of the things they disliked were just some of the old game mechanics of D&D that evolved looong ago. ((the comeliness mechanic..hahah. And when ability score still forced what race/class you could choose. which is in legends where the MinMaxer peoples were born))
