Yes, though there's a popular house rule that the increased crit range from Improved Critical and keen don't allow for beheadings, just normal crits. I can't remember which designer suggested this...
 




It's in that pesky artifact section. Ya know, the one with the Eye of Vecna, Hand of Vecna, and the Sword that took the Eye and Hand of Vecna... Vecna, Vecna, Vecna... :)
 

Off hand since Vorpal is +5 equivalent, isn't it impossible to add on any 'special' properties? I thought items were limited to 5 pluses worth of abilities and 5 vanilla pluses.
 

Nope. Magical weapons are limited to 1) no more than a +5 enhancement bonus to attack and damage AND 2) no more than +10 worth of special abilities (which, since the minimum enhancement bonus on a weapon must be +1, equates to a +1 weapon with +9 worth of special abilities). So a +4 keen vorpal scimitar, for example, is possible, as is a +1 keen flaming shocking holy vorpal scimitar.

Just like in the old days, when there was no giving a weapon a bonus beyond +5...

Then there appeared a "Unearthed Arcana" which listed +6 Defender, amongst other things.

This false "limit" of +10 equivalence is one of the things going west in ELH.

The pattern is there, it is easy to see, and extrapolate. (+11 "bonus" weapon would "cost" 242000gp)

It is just a GOOD IDEA to keep a lid on things. I hope it stays at +5 enhancement. The other stuff can just get piled on, as far as I'm concerned.

Remember, it is up to the DM to give the players the 200+ days off from adventuring to make the +10 equivalent weapon...or leave it lying around the dragons hoard.
