Kill Bill Volume 2 - Spoiler filled discussion

Loved it, every minute.

Huh; I thought I counted, and counted 5 steps.

KB 3 -- Could be set in the future, with BB fighting Nikki Bell (the young daugher of Copperhead) :)

Heh. In the credits it says:

"Based on the character of 'The Bride' created by Q & U"

I was curious as to what "Q & U" meant, until recently reading an interview with Uma Thurman where she discusses her and Tarantino inventing the character while chatting over coffee.

Q & U. Quentin & Uma. Duh. ;)

Oh good, I'm not the only one that counted them out. The folks I went to see the movie with thought I was mad when I started counting Bill's steps. The fact that he took 6 and then collapsed tells me that he didn't die...very similar to the way that Uma didn't die from the bullet to the head.

Hmmm...could he have died, and then his body took an extra step out of inertia before collapsing? :)

Anyhow, for the sequel, we get Yuki, and Copperhead's daughter, and the blinded and limbless, respectively, "old guard", having it in for the Bride? With BB forced to try to defend her, despite having no training (or at least it seemed to be the Bride's wish that she live a normal life). Or maybe BB gets killed, and this gets the Bride angry...and you know what happens when she gets angry. Well, I guess I'll find out in 15 years.

I was actually hoping that this thread would list tons and tons of the references to ealier films that apparently litter Kill Bill. I don't have the background to know what was being done, but I know that Tarantino was doing it. The only one I could think of is that the minister and his wife looked kind of like Luke Skywalker's aunt and uncle, and they got murdered too. Yeah, that's it. :)

Man, I loved it! I almost think this one was better than the first. I can't wait to see the two of them together as one film. I think I liked the music in the first one better because it was more frenetic, but it was good and definitely fit.

My only gripe is that I think there needed to be one more fight scene in it. Perhaps Beatrix could have had a gun battle with guards to reach Bill or maybe Esteban to get to Bill.

I know that I now want to grow my goatee out into a two foot beard I can flip with disdain :]

If Quentin ever makes a third movie I believe Elle will be the blind master who teaches Vernita's kid. She will train her as her weapon of revenge against the Bride for blinding her.

Hmmm, given the references in the film itself and owing a lot to the revenge movies he's given an homage to.. I doubt they could say they created her so much as reimagined her. The Bride Wore Black crossed with The Bride With White Hair, with a huge number of other film references thrown in (IMDB list a lot of those, esp for Pai Mei).

Ahh. I thought that flute looked familiar... :) Circle of Iron was one of my favorite movies, ever.

I thought it was a fun film. I had only two problems with it:

1) The Superman speech. It didn't seem in character for Carradine's character - it sounded like Quentin talking, not Bill. I just got the impression he had this cool Superman speech and just gave it to someone at random. Perhaps Bud could have said it if anyone had to.

2) So, she's killed the father of her child? The father who seemed to get along very well indeed with the kid, had brought her up since birth, and who seemed to be loved very much by the girl. Does anyone think that the kid will be a little upset later in life when she finds out Mummy killed Daddy with a five-point-exploding-palm technique?

Other than that, a fun, fun movie. The way Bill went was perfect - much better than tr

Other than that, a fun, fun movie. The way Bill went was perfect - much better than trying to top previous fights with outrageous stunts. Michael Madsen's death really surprised me - I was so expecting a big fight between him and Uma Thurman.
