knock outs

To do a mega knockout it isn't just the rogue that can (with a little optional ruling).

The rogue can sap sneak attack.
The Fighter/Barbarian/Paladin/Ranger and anyone else who will do a lot of damage can do more than 50 pts of subdual damage to force a fort save or knockout (this is an option that I plan to play).
The spellcasters can get subdual spell (or just cast sleep/hold/etc goddamnit).
The monk can stun and tie up etc...

Chris, the barbarian can NOT simply get a sap and knock someone who didn't notice him unconscious. That's what I was referring too. The wizard can't do it either.

Ah well.

Well, that depends on the level. A 20th-level wizzie's Subdual Substituted Meteor Swarm could knock out a dragon. :D

Myself, I'd simply treat the fighter as invisible (the guard hasn't noticed him) giving the fighter a +2 to attack, and negating the guard's dex bonus to AC. A 1st-level fighter with Power Attack should have no trouble dropping a mook-type guard. Now, the Elite Soldier-Knights of the City of Brass might prove more of a challenge. :)
