I think Nifft's suggestion of 2 Blackguard levels is good, actually - you only lose 1 bonus feat. And +10 to all saves is just wicked. And you get smite good 1/day. And you get a couple of Blackguard spells - strategic charge (swift) would be nice, for a quick use of Mobility. Depends how much you want him real CR25, though. Saves at +36/+30/+31 might take him way out of the party's league.

Second. Oh my god, "Memphis" is going to turn some poor unlucky PC into little red sticks. :confused:

Third. Oh my god, pick up the Blackguard levels, drop Weapon Specialization, and watch those spellcasters weep. :]

Actually, I'll likely tweak him a bit, for my own purposes, but I think I'll hold off on the blackguard levels. Perhaps if Memphis survives his next encounter with the PCs then I'll add on a couple Blackguard levels. They won't likely encounter him soon, as they are only around 18th level, on average.
 

I don't know, looking at that monster, I would drop the falchion to a +1 to make it keen with a +40 to hit he's going to be hitting with relatively low numbers and the opportunity for 12-20 threat range is too good to miss.
 

Instead of fighter or blackguard, what about warmage? Looking at it, it'd be perfect. You gain spells like a sorcerer but cast any spell on their spell lists, and in light armor and light shields to boot!

What spells would you think he'd use in combat, instead of what a vanilla Balor already has?

Well, what about the Enlightened Fist? Increase the SLA checks by three and some other nifty stuff.

^ Stratch that. Mindbender is probably a better idea.

SLA checks?

Mindbender is practically useless, though. Balors already have Telepathy, and can cast dominate monster at will, which is better than what a Mindbender can cast, isn't it? What ability do you see it using in combat that's better than what it already has?
