Latest purchases

Latest rpg purchases:

Bushido (1980 (Phoenix Games) edition) -- I had a copy of book 1 (Heroes of Nippon) ages ago, but never had (and always wanted) book 2 (Land of Nippon)
Ars Magica (1st (Lion Rampant) edition) -- never owned this game, always heard good stuff about it

These were picked up for $5 apiece in the used section of the FLGS; I was also tempted by copies of Mekton I (I've already got Mekton II and Zeta) and 1st ed. Teenagers from Outer Space, but demurred (I've got way too many rpgs as-is).

Sandstorm
- I already had Frostburn and found it interesting and enjoyable. As such, I have been looking forward to buying its equal opposite Sandstorm for a while now.

Iron Heroes revised

I bought the original and liked it, although I have not yet had a chance to run it or in it. Now with the revision out I thought I would buy it and see what has changed and remained the same.

RuneQuest
RuneQuest - Taint and Sanity

I've heard good things about this system. I bought Taint and Sanity mostly due to the price and curiosity on how a different system might treat these.

Picked up the Exalted Storyteller's Companion (used, half-price, w00-h00) the other day to find some more options for a "variety pack" Exalted campaign we've just started.

Before that, it'd been awhile -- I'd ordered the Fief softcover via Lulu to supplement my campaign background. I was really happy with that, even though I'm not ever going to run anything *that* historical! But, now I know how much salt it takes to preserve meat and fish, and how long it might keep for. *chortle*

Demon: The Fallen Player's Guide - I generally don't like the WoD (New or Old), but since the gaming group I joined was already playing Demon I gave it a shot. I still dislike the Storyteller system, but at least the game has been fun.

Mastermind's Manual, and various Villanious Archetypes for M&M - I've been running M&M to the guys in my new gaming group for about 2 or 3 weeks and so far they've all enjoyed playing supers.

Complete Champion and Scoundrel - Just to enhance my regular D&D setting, which is still on hiatus since right now the gaming group is playing on Eberron with a very inexperienced DM who is really trying to provide us with a fun game.

Planescape: A Guide to the Astral Plane - This was the hardest to find and get. I've still have to get Inner Planes and the Guide to the Ethereal, but I've already found them and might be getting them in a few days.

Realms of Sorcery for WFRP and Iron Heroes Revised.

On the second-hand market, I picked up a copy of Ultramodern Firearms for Millennium's End and the Forgotten Realms Atlas (even though I haven't run an FR game in over 5 years and have no other FR products!), both nice and cheap on eBay :D

Shadowrun 4th Edition.
Street Magic.

I had a bout of nostalgia hit me, taking me back to the 90's when I played Shadowun 1st and 2nd Edition culminating with the above purchases.

I've recently picked up:

Scion: Hero
Expedition to the Demonweb Pits

Tigris & Euphrates
Twilight Emperium
Killer Bunnies
Battlelore + Call to Arms

Buying games is fun!

Frostburn is superior to Sandstorm IMO. Unless you are going to do alot of desert campaigning, but beyond the environmental rules, nothing really grabbed me in Sandstorm.

BTW:
Besides my Dragon/Dungeon subs running dry soon, I have bought ZERO gaming products this year, and only look forward to Greyhawk's Expedition mod. Star Wars saga still cracks me up with the squareness, and apparently all following SW books will match that. I hope it catches on now. Why not?

I came into a bit of discretionary cash in the past week or so, and indulged my addiction to the printed word.

RPGs:
Arcana Evolved
Aces & Eights
Villains, Vandals, and Vermin (for Champions)
Star Wars Saga Edition

Novels:
Soon I Will Be Invincible, a really well done first novel about supervillainy and superheroism
Daywatch, the sequel to Nightwatch
City of Towers, because sometimes, in spite of knowing better, you NEED to read some gaming fiction
