Lawful Good Bard...

First Post
Hey Everyone,

Was wondering is there a 3.5 class or prestige class that mimics the bardic music abilities and spells while allowing your character to be Lawful Good. I'm more then willing to sacrifice the bardic knowledge abilities.

The character in question will be a Sorceress/ either Cleric or Favor Soul and needs to be Lawful Good, but would like to add bardic music abilities.

Thanks!

You could have always homebrew a lawful good bard. I never really understood why bard had to be chaotic anyway. Court bards actually were lawful. They served their kings/queens/etc in many ways beyond entertainment.

Champions of Valor web enhancement has Harmonious Knight Pally sub levels. You trade out Detect Evil for Inspire Courage. You don't get the full suite of bardic mojo, but you DO get the best of it. You could simply multiclass from whatever you are into this, pick up the most awesome song, and then if you really want, you can multiclass from there into Bard with the feat linked above, and you can tie it all together with the feats "Intitiate of Milil" and "From Smite to Song".

You could even do HK Pally sub levels on a typical Sorcadin build (Pal2/Sorc4/Spellsword1/AbjChamp5/SacEx8) for a little something to do between casting spells and hitting things with your beat stick of choice.

Because of Paladins I suspect. Many potent Pally abilities come early on. Take a few levels of Paladin and then proceed as a Bard. The loss of spellcasting levels hurts the Bard far less than it does the Sorc.

How many musicians do you know? Poets? Other artists?

I grew up around 'em, and deal with them professionally. There is a grain of truth to those stereotypes about them being flaky, chaotic, mad geniuses. Even the most law abiding ones I know are just a little bit left of center. I suspect that, mechanics aside, they just wanted to hard-code that vibe into the class.

The problem is - Bards weren't solely musicians. They were storytellers, acrobats, spies, personal entertainers, jugglers, scribes, both narrators and orators, scholars, even scientists among other things. Besides, I myself am musician, and I consider myself lawful - I have a strict code of conduct that I adhere to.

Crippling one class because of other one's flawed progression doesn't sound like intended thing. Besides, 2 monk levels provide loads of bennies too, and monks are as lawful as paladins, and can mix well (if not as well as bards or sorcs).
